"Parker? Is that you?" I screamed through the fire.
Parker Adamson. Also known as Meredith's boyfriend.
"What are you doing here? You're supposed to be with Mere at the Mexican restaurant. What are you-" I looked around. "No. No, you didn't do this. You didn't harass me and kill my father and almost kill my boyfriend and now you're not trying to kill me. What are you doing here?"
Without a word, the figure - Parker - turned around and walked out of the back door of the cabin. Through the fire I could see the lock turn. Oh no.
I felt someone's arms around my waist. Then everything went black.

Beeping. All I heard was beeping. I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. I was in a hospital room. I looked to my right and saw Luke sleeping on the couch. My mom was sitting in a chair sleeping across the room. I tried to sit up but couldn't. I cleared my throat and Luke quickly turned to me.
In one second, he was at my side. "Hey," he whispered. "How are you feeling?"
"It hurts. My leg. It hurts. What happened?"
"You went to the old cabin and met someone and they set the place on fire. Luckily, you told me where you were going as you broke up with me. So I knew you were in danger and I came and pulled you out. You're leg got really badly burned. But the doctors said that you're going to be okay and your leg should heal in a few months."
"I- I don't- I- I- I don't remember. I don't remember anything. W- what happened?"
"You don't remember anything from yesterday or last night?" He looked at me concerned.
"I remember... I remember us leaving the hospital and going to Taco Bell. We got a note from someone and it said to take them seriously before someone gets burned. And you went to the police. And I was mad and broke up with you and I got an email from someone telling me to meet them at the old cabin if I wanted to save the people I love. And I went and I remember fire. And I remember seeing someone but I don't remember who it was. That's all I remember. Everything went black."
"No."
"What?"
"You're not breaking up with me. I was trying to protect you. Maybe I was wrong to do that. But you're not breaking up with me. The police are looking for this guy. They think he fled town. But they're looking for him and they're going to find him."
"Luke, I-"
"No! I said no. I know I should've just listened to you but I'm not letting you break up with me for protecting you."
"Luke, I love you."
He smiled and said, "I love you, too."
He climbed into the hospital bed and layed down beside me. He put his arm around me and I layed my head on his chest. Eventually, we both fell asleep.

We woke up a few hours later when the doctors came in for a checkup. Luke started to get out of the bed but the doctor said it was fine, so he layed back down. The doctor asked me a couple questions and said he would prescribe me some pain killers to help with the pain and that I could leave whenever I'm ready.
I layed my head on Luke's chest and sighed. "Guess we better get ready to leave."
He groaned. "Yeah." He yawned. "Do you need help getting dressed? I just mean.. your leg."
I looked down at my leg and said, "Uh, I think I can do it. But if I need your help, I'll call you."
He nodded and I grabbed the joggers and tee shirt that my mom had brought me and walked to the bathroom slowly. Right before I got to the door, I fell. It was like my knee just completely gave out. Luke rushed over and I said, "Okay. I may need your help." He laughed and helped me up and into the bathroom. He helped me change and then helped me back out into the room and onto the bed. He handed me my overnight bag with my hairbrush and stuff in it. I brushed my hair and then put it into a fishtail braid. I decided not to put on any makeup since I wasn't planning on going anywhere but home.
Luke helped me put my converses on and then helped me into the bathroom so I could brush my teeth. Once we were both done getting everything ready, mom went to sign all the discharge papers. When she was back, Luke helped me into the wheelchair that the nurses had provided to get me out of the hospital.
After about five minutes, we were finally at the car. Luke helped me in and mom took the wheelchair back while Luke sat with me. Normally Luke would have gone too but mom didn't want me to be alone. I knew this would happen. I knew she would start being overprotective again. I mean I'm 17 now. I can sit in a car by myself without someone killing me.
When she got back we started the twenty minute ride home. On the way there, we stopped to get Taco Bell because we're kind of addicted.
When we pulled into the driveway, Luke got out and came around to help me out and into the house. Next we just had to conquer the stairs. Eventually we made it up to my room.
Once I was in my bed, Luke looked at me and asked, "Is there anything you need? Anything at all?"
"I think I'm good for now. But Luke, you've been here all day. Don't you want to go home and rest? You can come back later."
"No! I'm not leaving you right now. Not like this. Of course I don't want to go home. No, I'm staying. And we are going to have a Grey's Anatomy marathon and popcorn and a whole bunch of food that as a cheerleader you're not supposed to eat, but you're going to anyway. Okay?"
I smiled. "Okay."
He came over and climbed into the bed with me and pulled me close. I layed my head on his chest as he turned on Grey's. We watched about six or seven episodes until we decided we should probably go to sleep since it was one o'clock in the morning. Luke turned the TV off and we fell asleep.
