Lauren's POV

As I was getting out of my car to head to school, I heard several thuds. Then I heard a groan and what sounded like people laughing. I turned to see a boy, maybe 17 or 18, on the ground and 5 boys standing around him. Dropping my backpack to increase speed, I ran to the dark-haired boy. I pushed my way through the guys and quickly helped the boy up. He flinched upon my touch, but then realized I was only trying to help and eased up. I bent down again to grab his books and backpack, then handed the boy his belongings. The 5 guys stood and watched until I gave them all dirty looks and told them that they were rude jerks. One blonde haired boy said sorry in a sarcastic manner before turning and laughing. As he walked off, the other boys followed. "I know who's the leader." I thought. When the bullies were out of sight, the dark-haired boy thanked me.

"You new here?" I asked as we walked into the school building.

"Yes." He said quietly, in almost a whisper.

"I'm Lauren. You can call me Lo." I reached out my hand but he didn't shake it.

"I-I'm Harry." He walked with his head down.

"Okay Harry. Don't worry about those boys. They're jerks."

"They do that to everybody?"

"Just the new kids." I said with a smile.

He snickered. I continued, "What's your first class? I could show you around."

"It's AP Biology." He replied while looking at his schedule.

"Ah, smart kid. Lucky for you, I'm a

super smart kid and I took that class my junior year so if you need a tutor, I'm your girl." I said in a cocky, yet joking tone.

"Y-you're a senior? Me too." I had began to wonder if Harry stuttered a lot.

We walked down a few hallways and turned a few corners until finally reaching room 506, Mrs. Breeds' class. "There you go, Harry. AP Biology." I said as he opened his mouth to speak but didn't let words escape his mouth. After the warning bell rang, Harry quickly thanked me for showing him around and walked into his class. I ran to the gym and beat the tardy bell by just a few seconds. The gym teacher, Mr. Rowlings, handed me my clipboard and whistle.

"What took you so long to get down here today? You're my assistant and this is a bad example." Mr. Rowlings whispered in my ear.

"I beat the tardy bell." I said as an excuse.

"You should've beat the warning bell. You usually beat it every other day. What's so different about today?"

"I was showing a new kid around." I left him with that and began my daily routine with the freshman gym class. "Alright, girls, let's get the 15 minute run out of the way!" I yelled and the girls began running like always.

After gym, I walked back to Mrs. Breeds hoping to find Harry. He was still there, so I walked up to him. "Hey. Need help finding your next class?" I asked. Way more excited than I should have been.

"Y-yeah. I d-do. Where is Mr. Patt's Pre-Cal class?"

"That's my next class. I'll walk you there."

"O-okay."

Harry's POV

We were walking into the classroom when the teacher stopped me and assigned me a seat. It was toward to back of the class and I was okay with that for the most part. Surprisingly, though, I was a bit sad that my seat was no where near Lauren's. As class started, I found myself mesmerized about this almost complete stranger. Her long brown hair that ended right above her bum. Her tan skin looking so smooth and soft. Her big brown eyes and the way her glasses sat on her nose. Her lips pink and plump. I thought about how short she was compared to me considering her head was barely at the height of my chest. I thought about how high her voice was. I wondered why a girl like her would even speak to a guy like me. I never spoke to anyone at my old school. Nor had anyone ever come to speak to me. I guess because my social skills were terrible and I stuttered quite frequently when I am nervous. I was a quiet guy. I stayed to myself a lot and never really worried about making friends and I've never gotten into any trouble. I was a smart, quiet guy and I couldn't comprehend why Lauren would even offer to show me around. The class bell rang snapping me out of my daze and as I was walking out of class, Lauren approached me yet again making my stomach flutter.
