Chapter 10

Ashley’s POV

I woke with a pounding headache and a foggy memory of the night before, I groaned as I rolled over and unfortunately because of my weariness I fell from my bed to the floor with a loud thump. Soon my head was filled with a deep laugh from the bed I looked over to see Ryan cracking up laughing on the bed.

“Shut up” I groaned I stood up slowly and fell back down onto the bed, “My head hurts” I complained, Ryan looked down at me smirking, “What?” I snapped, “You are the funniest drunk I have ever seen” he said between laughs.

I growled a little and pulled myself up and walked shakily over to the bathroom, I looked at my dishevelled state in the mirror, my dress was now crumpled and my hair and makeup where smudged, my eyes where bloodshot and the stench of various alcohols was on my breath.

I turned the shower on and closed the door, slowly stripping off the dress that stuck to my skin, I walked in to the shower and let the water wash over me. Allowing all the smells of alcohol and sweat to wash away with the water, I cupped my hands under the stream and washed my face off as well as letting the water run over my hair.

The headache had subsided a little once I had finished, so I got out and dried myself wrapping a towel around my body tightly. As I walked back into the room I saw that there was a steaming hot cup of coffee and orange juice as well as toast and numerous tubs of spreads and some aspirin.

I pulled on some swimmers and grabbed some shorts and a singlet leaving them on my bed, I grabbed a piece of toast and ate it without any spread while sitting down taking a sip of coffee and swallowing the aspirin trying to relieve some of the headache. I looked out the window watching as all the children played out in the surrounding yard.

A light knock came from the door and in walked Ryan, I smiled up to him, and I was rewarded with a grin, “So my gorgeous what shall we do today” he asked as he jumped onto the bed making me bounce a little. I shrugged my shoulder and instantly an evil smirk covered his face, before I knew it I was tossed over his shoulder and bouncing down the stairs.

I let out little screams as he ran and jumped as well as cracking up laughing the whole time, soon I understood what he was about to do and screamed louder until I felt the cool water rushing around my body. I came up splashing and spluttering while he swam over and pulled me above the water.

The day was spent like that playing around in the water, lying the sun and getting to know each other better. “Come on babe there is a pack dinner tonight, we better go and get ready” Ryan said while pulling me up with him and leading me into the house.

We parted ways at the stairs and I made my way to my room and quickly changed into the dress that my mother had laid out on the bed. I let my hair down and it fell around my face in waves, I applied a little mascara and eyeliner as the girls had taught me and fastened the strap on my heels before walking downstairs and to the formal dining room.

 I walked in and saw that most people had already arrived and where sitting around the long table, I strolled over to Braydon and sat beside him when he gestured for me to do so. “How’s the mate treating you?” he asked quietly in my ear. I grinned and punched him hard in the shoulder, “None of your business” he chuckled a little, looking forward his smile dropped and a look of profound love overcame his eyes I looked toward the source and saw Georgia standing in the doorway by herself, a blue dress hugging her curves and her brown hair swaying.

“So why haven’t you told anyone yet?” I whispered in his ear, making sure no one heard, “she says that it would be better to wait awhile until we told everyone, until we know each other better” he said sadly, a sad smile took over my face. Ryan strode over soon with confidence in his step and sat down beside me.
