I remember the day I decided to become an IT girl like it was yesterday. Yeah, I know, lots of people say that they're gonna become one. But how many actually have success stories? Maybe a handful, and I'm lucky to be a part of the generous handful.
My name is Julianna Ivy Hamilton. I'm 17 years old and I live in New Mexico. I have 3 other siblings, 2 sisters and a brother. Madalyn Paige is my youngest sibling. She's only 14 but she's about to turn 15. Faith Lane is my oldest sibling. She's 20 and away at college. She attends the University of Georgia. It's pretty far away from where we live so we rarely get to see her anymore. Peyton Cole is my brother. He's my twin but I came first. He likes to joke around and say that I only came first because of 'ladies first'.
Anyway, Peyton, Madalyn and I all attend Bosque School. Madalyn is a freshman this year and Peyton and I are seniors.
But first I should probably tell you about how I changed my life within the course of a little over two months.
Flash back starts-
"I'm going to miss all of you so so so so so much."
My dad stepped back to hug I had just given him.
"You're gonna be fine," he told me.
"You'll survive as long as you email, text, and call me each and everyday," my mom reminded me what she had been telling me everyday for the entire month.
I nodded and looked over at Victoria, who was saying good bye to her own family.
She glanced over at me and gave her parents one last hug goodbye. She reached down to pick up her carry on and walked over to me.
"You ready for this?" she asked me.
"I guess I kind of have to be."
She laughed and walked off to get in line. I gave Madalyn and Peyton hugs then said goodbye to everyone.
"JULIANNA!"
I turned around to see Victoria waving at me frantically to join her at the front of the line. I grabbed my carry on and ran off to join her. I turned around and gave a quick wave then caught up to her.
"Yeah?"
"Let her hold your ticket."
I set my carry on down and fished my ticket out of my pocket to give to her.
"Yes, you've both been upgraded to first class."
"Wait what?"
"You heard her! First class!"
"Yeah, yeah, but how?"
"Someone under the name of Cathy Bailey."
"I can't believe Mrs. Bailey did that for us! Thank you!"
"Come we better go, we're holding up the line!"
I picked up my carry on for what felt like the hundredth time that day and walked off following Victoria. We made our way to our seats and stowed away our carry ons. I was glad I got to forget about that stupid bag for an hour and a half.
The stewardess pushed her cart toward us.
"Can I get you anything? A juice, water, maybe a snack?"
"Can I get a water?"
"Of course!"
I thanked her and smiled as she handed over the bottle with clear liquid.
"Victoria Braelyn Woods!"
"Oh God... What is it this time?"
"I have an idea! And I think you'll like it!"
"Okay... give me a minute to prepare myself."
"She picked up her phone and texted her mom 'Julianna has an idea... wish me luck'.
"Okay ready."
She shifted in her seat to face me and pulled her knees up to rest her chin on them.
"We're nerds. Everyone picks on us. We aren't popular."
"Uh huh...."
"Let's change it."
"This isn't gonna be good..."
"When we come back to New Mexico, we are going to have the perfect body, hair, and clothes to kill for. Los Angeles is like filled with hope. We are going to work our asses off and become the girls we see on Tumblr. We're gonna be like Nicole, except smart, crazy smart."
"Jules. Do you know what that's gonna require?"
"Yeah. And I'm ready for it."
"That means we have to work out, get super tan, and create come backs for about everything."
"It can't be that hard."
"We'll see. Go to sleep. It's 6 am and we are going to need as much energy as we can get this summer."
I reclined my seat back and drifted off to sleep with a smile spread across my face.
I'm gonna be popular. And that means I may just die trying.
