"Please! Please no!" A woman begged for her life as a man stood over her with a chainsaw. The moonlight did little to illuminate the killer's face. The woman begged and pleaded more but it fell on deaf ears. In one foul swoop, the woman was cut in half.
The killer picked up her remains. As he was toting them back to the abandoned house, a photo fell out of one of the pockets of the lady's pants. He stopped to pick it up. It was a photo of a young boy, no more than 10.
The man was transfixed with the site of the child. He had short white blonde hair, caramel skin, and startling green eyes. He was wearing blue jean overalls that were rolled up and a light brown t-shirt. The child had a little dirt here and there but over all was clean.
The man turned the picture over to find a name, date, and age: 5-07-2000 Finn age 10. "F-f-finn," whispered the killer in a hoarse voice that hadn't been used in years. The picture was placed in the front pocket of his overalls.
10 years later...
"Finn! Finn, we're going to be late!" a voice yelled from the first floor. A man slowly unraveled himself from the covers to see that it was 6:30 a.m.
"Aw shit. Mom's going to be pissed," Finn announced with irritation. He quickly yanked on a dark blue t-shirt and a pair of overalls. He rolled the legs up to his knees and slipped on a pair of mint green converse.
Finn rushed down the stairs to be faced to faced with his mother. She was seething with rage. "Do you realize what time it is? Your sister will be late if you don't get going!" Finn nodded quickly and made his way to the back door.
His 17-year-old sister was waiting by the door of his van. She wore a pair of jeans with a rainbow skirt on top, a blue tie-dye t-shirt, and cowgirl boots. Her backpack was solid white.
"Sorry, Kitt. I had a long night," he said as they entered the car. Finn checked himself in the mirror to see the normal dark circles were darker.
"It was the dream again, wasn't it?" Kitt asked, worry in her voice. Finn sighed and started the car. "When are you going to tell Dad? Or more important Mom?"
"I....I don't know. But it is getting hard to go back to sleep after it. And when I do go back to sleep, it takes a lot to get me to get back up."
"That's a problem." Kitt stared at the passing houses. "I worry about you, you know."
"I know. You don't need to be. I'll be fine, when I move out," replied Finn. He knew the nightmares wouldn't go away no matter if he left or not. They would just follow him like that time he spent the night with his best friend. Finn had woken up screaming and tears were streaming down his face. That was the only time that had ever happened.
"Well, here we are. Have a good day at school." He was quiet for a moment as Kitt exited the car. "I love you."
"I love you too. Get some rest before you come and get me, please?" She had puppy-dog eyes and her lower lip was jutted our. Finn couldn't say no to that face.
"Fine. Just so I'm not late, I'll sleep in the car in the parking lot. I'll take you out to eat after school." Finn thought for a moment. "But we have to be back home by 5. I've got to be at work at 6."
"Deal."
