Mikaela's POV
--6 years ago in class--
"Hi guys!" I ran to my best friends Alex and Sasha. Even though I felt Sasha's eyes roll, I managed to smile.
"oh uh. hi." Alex said, refusing to look at me.
"Are you oka-"
"Did Stacy tell you yet?" Sasha's voice rang, her tone in a snapping mood.
"Tell me what?" I was clueless. Alex's eyes watered and she looked away.
"So, that's a no." she said rolling her eyes again, "I guess I have to tell you. Okay. Mikaela. We don't want to talk to you anymore. You're just really annoying and all you do is copy and nobody likes you. You're a fake and a loser. Oh and Joseph doesn't like you. This whole time he lied because he felt bad for you." Sasha shrugged and Alex was full on crying.
"I can't do this Sasha. Mikaela is my friend and I love her." Alex ran to my side and cried on my shoulder.
"Really Alex? Well go ahead. Have her, she's going to need all the support she gets. She's nothing but a brat and a drama queen." a smirk landed on Sasha's face and my eyes glossed and widened. I was too shocked to fully cry, Sasha walked away.
"What did I do to you? I never copied your style or you! All you do is create lies and you talk bad things about all of your friends but you're nice to them and deny everything!" My voice rang, causing other kids in the playground to stare. Joseph was watching.
"I'm the liar?" She yelled. She stormed up to me.
"You're the one who lied to me! You lied about Zack liking me and I made a fool of myself!" she poked at my chest and yelled in my face.
"Zack told me he liked you! He lied to you because he was too nervous to tell you. That's not my fault. You're the one who acts like she's all that when everyone knows you lie about more than half the things that come out of your dirty mouth!" I screamed and what happened next surprised everyone. She slapped me. I looked at her and cupped my cheek. I ran to the other side of the playground and slid down the big tree trunk, crying. I dialed my mother's number on my phone and called.
"Mom please pick me up, please." I begged through tears.
"What's wrong?" She sounded alarmed.
"Can I explain when you come?" I sniffed.
"Yeah, yeah. Of course." 10 minutes after class, the speaker in the classroom called my name and reported that I was signed out. 20 minutes after, I told my mom everything in the car. The only part I left out was when Sasha hit me.
"Did she physically hit you?" She looked worried and I didn't want to worry her more so I shook my head.
Well, after this, the same thing pretty much happened everyday. The glaring, the shoving, the comments that made the whole class laugh. I had to hold it in until my sisters graduation. I was really friendless. A few weeks after Alex defended me, I found out she was moving to California. The only way I can actually talk to her is through the phone. So I texted more often than physically talked to people. I knew it was a problem for my parents because they didn't want me on the phone so much. I hated being on my phone a lot. It was all I had for as a friend so I didn't know what else to do
Alex knew I didn't have as much friends here because of what happened so she introduced me to her friends who lived there. One of my first internet friends was named Brianna. She lived with Alex and we both got along so well. I started relying my whole life on internet friends, and that's how everything started.
