internet friends. this era loves them, last generation despises them. Mikaela, a girl from a small city, tends to have a lot of them. It has been hidden for years due to her parents in the "last generation". How long can she hide it for? She thought...
"Mik, I know you're still bummed out about you and Harry breaking up, but he lived 2 states away. He can't do anything." Delilah sat on my bed and rubbed my back. I groaned and buried my face deeper in the pillow.
"It's been a week, you have to get over him already." she got up and paced the floor.
Looking up at her I said, "I dated him for 8 months." You may think that 8 months isn't a big deal, but for internet relationships it's a triumph. We called every single day and night, he was everything to me.
"You guys fought for 6 of the 8 months, not really perfect if you ask me." She rolled her eyes and I knew I was about to cry again.
"Not every couple is perfect, Delilah." I laid back down and stared at my ceiling.
"You need to get over him. Go shower and get dressed, we're going to Angel's party." She slapped my thigh and walked to my closet.
"I'm not going." I mumbled.
"Oh yes you are! She's our best friend and I promised her we'd go." She took out black/ripped skinny jeans and an alien crop top. She threw it in my face along with panties and a bra. I groaned, but obliged and headed to the shower. It was obvious due to the dark circles empowering my eyes that I haven't slept for about 36 hours.
I took off my pajamas and turned the shower on. I had to wait for the hot water to recover. Once the temperature of the water was suiting to me, I let my hair fall free from the elastic and stepped in. Finally retiring from the previous funk self, I stepped out and put my clothes on. After, I blowdried my hair and ironed it. I usually don't wear makeup as much, but I needed to cover the bags under my eyes so I used concealer. Adding mascara and finishing my look, I put on my black converse and met Delilah by the car.
"Oh, you look so cute!" She squealed and shoved me in the car, making me groan in annoyance. The whole car drive consisted of her singing and my eyes rolling. We make it to Angel's house and walk up the steps. Immediately someone greets us at the door, a way-too-cheerful chick.
"Hello! Welcome to Angel's birthday party! You'll have a blast!" Her older sister said in a cheery tone.
"Thank you for having us." Delilah smiled, then looked at me as if I had something to say. After 3 seconds of silence, she pinched my arm and forced me to smile.
"Thank you.. So much" I smiled through clenched teeth.
She moved to the side, allowing us to enter. She walked us to the back where Angel was. Angel was standing with our other friend Jackie and a boy I have never seen before.
