I got up thirty minutes before my alarm was supposed to wake me. "Great, today is going to be fun" Eleanor sarcastically said to herself. Eleanor Fry, a young witty girl, who's being forced to go to a religious private school because her parents didn't understand her love for science. "I guess I can get ready, maybe I can sneak a few books so I won't be bored" She said to herself, while looking at her bookcase. Science is a passion, that Eleanor could not get rid of, would not get rid of. Her parents would force her to, though; Eleanor believes the only reason they want her to forget her love for science, is because they're afraid of the unknown, of the mystery that lays behind the door. Either way, she would have to hide her passion for it, and move on through this new school and newish life.
Stories from the Twilight Zone, a classic to Eleanor, and one of the few books she was allowed to keep that had any form of science fiction in it. Not only did Rod Serling inspire her, he gave her hope like no one has ever given her before. The alarm blared throughout her room, signaling the start of a day, Eleanor dreaded. Shower, breakfast, and sneaking her favorite book into her backpack; Eleanor realizes her new daily ritual she'd have to get used to. Her mother and father; Helen and Joseph Fry, two religious people who wonder how two dirty blondes with bronze skin tone could create a redheaded, extremely pale teenage girl with a passion for science.
Eleanor took her shower, and got her backpack ready. Her parents mostly rushed her to the car, which wasn't unusual to Eleanor, but they only did that when she was going to be late. But she still had forty minutes before the first class started. "Wow, thanks mom, thanks dad, you sure won't miss me today" Eleanor thought to herself as she was being rushed to their dull green, ratty, old ninety seven Volkswagen Jetta. "Come on, come on hun, you don't want to miss your first day of school" Eleanor's dad, Joseph said while lightly pushing her into the car. "It'll be fun! You'll meet new people" her mother, Helen added in. Eleanor took in what both said, and decided not to care. She wasn't going to have fun, she already decided that. Leaving her friends, because of her love for science was just a horrible reason, and Eleanor wouldn't accept the fact that her parents did that.
First day of a new school, a school that would be filled with pampered, "Almighty" kids. But at least it was a day, a day with some of the Twilight Zones classic tales in her backpack. She could make it through this, it was only a school right? Nothing could tear her spirit down, not even the Holy Spirit. Which in a sadistically funny daydream Eleanor had, would box her. Lasting to the very last round, but with a few seconds before the end of the last round Eleanor threw the Knock Out punch, K.Oing the one and only Holy Spirit, and winning the title. A big brick building, has to be at least three stories, was in Eleanor's plain sight. Her prison for eight hours a day until she's transfered to home confinement for the rest of the day. She exited the car without saying goodbye, her parents didn't deserve a goodbye in her opinion. They're the reason she's here, so they didn't deserve a happy smiling face to reply to their pessimistic "Have a good day!".
She waited twenty minutes outside of the brick hell in a cell. But the bell rang and she knew she had to go in, so putting her full effort in, she entered the building. Preps, preps, and more preps. What did she expect? The only surprise is the lack of a school uniform that most private schools made you wear. This school had a strict school dress code, but at least you had some freedom. But most of these people obviously only heard of Polo, and Aeropostale. She already knew, these kids are the complete opposite of " Christian " like. Quite frankly it should be just a regular prep school, because these kids aren't going to use whatever religious education they got. Neither was Eleanor, but at least she had and showed some form common dignity. Eleanor looked at the pamphlet that was given to her by her mother and father, giving all the information she needed. Locker number and combination, classes and the room numbers, the rules and dress codes, and most importantly the lunch schedule. The slow walk through the hall, past all the preppy looking people, and the few who looked normal enough. Eleanor was a lost puppy in a sea full of cats. But she had to move on to her locker, so she did. "At least the locker looks good" Eleanor thought to herself while checking it out. "Um hello.." A voice appeared behind Eleanor's open locker. "Um hi?" Eleanor replies after closing her locker, but was surprised at the person behind the voice. A guy, not even five ' five, yet he was devilishly handsome to her. "Um yes I'm new here... I can't find..." Before the guy could finish Eleanor cut him off. "I'm sorry dude I'm new here too, maybe we could help each other find where we're supposed to go" She said with a slight smile growing on her face. "Sure! I'd love that" the voice enthusiastically said. "Okay, first off what's your name?" Eleanor eager to know this guy even more asked. The boy replied, "Oh yeah! Duh sorry, my name is Rex.". Rex, the start of Eleanor's love for this dreaded school. The start of something unforgettable.
