I fall to the ground, a sharp pain shooting up my spine, for the tenth time. I look up at the tree in anger and confusion once more. It seemed every time I found a solid handhold, the branch just pulled away. I tried other trees but they all did the same, carefully avoiding my grasp. Looking up to the "sky" I realize how hopeless these attempts were. I might as well try to bench press a water buffalo.

I wipe my hands of on my still wet jeans, and sit down on a fallen log nearby. I take in my surroundings again and realize this strange world is more swamp than jungle, with large green tinted pools and impossibley thick tree roots that wound together to form walkways. The light is dim, it too seems to be tinted ever so slightly with green, coming from an invisible source. There's no way light made it from the hole down here.

Suddenly a low growl fills the swamp around me. I grasp my umbrella firmly in my hands and wave it around as to scare off anything that may be hidden in the shadows. I hear the notice again and to my relief realize that it came from my stomach. I didnt eat lunch and now I'm starving.

With upmost cation, I jump across from tree root to tree root and eventually make my way to what seems like solid land. I dig my umbrella deep into the muddy ground and start walking into the jungle, dragging it behind me. I really don't want to get lost down here. After a few feet a take a glance back and see no line in sight. I dig the umbrella into the ground once more and when I pull it out the hole refills itself. Great.

After trudging through this awful jungle for hours I feel like I've gotten no where. I keep passing the same tree, even though I walk strait. Right when I begin to lose hope, I hear something. I look down at my aching stomach, quietly curse at it, and continue on. While I do so all I can think about is how wrong this place is. It feels like a nghtmare brought to life. It looks like a horror movie set. It seems to be alive and it seems to be using all of its energy just to piss me off.

Once again A low growl fills the nightmarish jungle but when I turn to the source of the sound, I realize that it's most definitely NOT my stomach this time.
