Christmas Cards and the Poinsettia

Christmas wont be completed without a greeting without a greeting card - a Christmas card? Definitely right!! Christmas card is a greeting card sent as part of the traditional celebration of Christmas in order to convey between a range of sentiments related to the Christmas and holiday season. Christmas cards are usually exchanged during the weeks preceding Christmas Day by many people.
The traditional greeting reads 'wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year.' There are innumerable variations on this greeting, many cards expressing more religious sentiment, or containing a poem, prayer,Christmas song lyrics or biblical verse: others stay away from religion an all inclusive "seasons greetings".
The first Christmas cards were commissioned by sir Henry Cole and illustrated by John Callcott Horsley in London on May 1843.

You can also see poinsettia's during this holiday period. Did you  know that poinsettia is actually a bract or bunch of  modified leaves? These bracts or leaves are usually red, but many also be white or pink. At the center of the bracts are the tiny true flowers.
