Chapter 8

[Mackenzie]

I watch my sister run off the stage. I just laugh. Then I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and see Lucas and then I start to remember everything that happened. I rub my head to whip it all away. "Hey Lucas," I say. "Hey Mackenzie, do you want a drink," he says with a smile. I get a disgusting look on my face. He laughs. "It's fruit punch," Lucas says. "Oh," I say with a laugh. I grab the cup and drink the fruit punch. Then I realize that it's not fruit punch and I spit it out. "That's not fruit punch!" I yell. Lucas takes the cup and takes a sip. "Oh my gosh Mackenzie, I'm so sorry. I thought I grabbed the fruit punch," Lucas says embarrassed. To be honest that was actually good. "I'm gonna go find my sister," I say and walk away.

Then I finally find Maddie in the bathroom. "Maddie can I come in, it's Mackenzie," I say. "Yeah," Maddie says. I walk in and see Maddie fixing her makeup. " I saw what happened. Do you even know that guy?" I ask. "All I know is that he is Josh's friend and I-" she stops. "What, what is it?" I say. "Oh my god, josh! I need to talk to him!" Then Maddie run out of the door and she runs into someone, so I stay in the bathroom quiet.

"Oh, hey Maddie," a familiar says. "Hey Aden," Maddie says nervously. "Um, I just wanted to say sorry and that I don't like you at all- I mean I like you, but not in the way I think- or you think I mean," Aden says. "Umm, okay, but I need to talk to Josh so if you excuse me," Maddie says. Then I hear maddies footsteps walk away.

I sit there for a second to hear Aden. Then I hear ringing from a phone. "Hey Josh! I got the video, so call me back!" Aden says and hear him walk away.

I look out the door and see that it's clear. I start walking and bump into Lucas. "Oh sorry Lucas," I say. "Hey kenz, did you find Maddie?" He asks. "Uh, yeah. I should get back to the party," I say walking away fast, but he grabs my arm. "Wait kenz!" He says. "Stop it Lucas that hurts," I cry and he lets go. I start running out of the house and to home.

While I'm walking trying to find Josh, I get a call from Mackenzie.

"Hey kenz, what's up?" I ask. "I'm going home. I couldn't stay there anymore," she says. "Oh," is all I say. "Can you come home too. I don't feel safe alone at the house," she says. "Yeah, sure. I'll be there in a bit." Then I get my stuff and walk out. Before I get out the door I tell a random person to tell Josh that I left.
