There are just some things you cannot do without shaking.
Like climbing to the top of a diving board, and jumping off.
Like going into the haunted house down the street on Halloween as a child
Like killing yourself.
Ruby did not find it all that ironic that the sky was red the day she decided it was time.
Not even when she sliced her hand on knife she used to open the bag of ice to fill the tub in, which let red droplets melt into the ice.
Not even when her wedding ring shone red in the reflection against the ice.
She lay, shivering, in the tub filled with ice. She wanted the organs to be cold when they came to get her.
Picking up the phone slowly, she did not feel anything anymore. There was no fear, only calm. She dialed the number.
"Hello, Suicide Hotline, what's the situation?"
"I'm here to report a suicide," she said, calmly.
"What was the name of the victim?"
"Ruby Field,"
"The address?"
"23 Violetta Court, Amsturn"
"Please stay calm, we have an ambulance coming right away,"
She hung up the line.
The gun stared at her on the floor. She picked it up and examined it like a scientist, as if she had never seen one before. She lifted it to her head slowly, expressionless.
No cancer would decided when she would die.
BANG!

Note from the Author
Dear Readers,
Thank you ever so much for reading my novel, "Ruby". I would just like to take a moment to tell you the inspiration for this story, as it is so very close to my heart.
My cousin has suffered and survived through seven heart surgeries and is currently on a bypass machine.
She needs a new heart.
My Step-Grandfather has suffered through diabetes and Kidney failure and is currently on anti-rejection medication because the kidney he was given was not of the best quality.
He needs a new kidney.
These are just two of the people who motivated me to write this story. I urge you to sign up to your countries Organ Donation Registry, or if you are under 18, talk to your parents or guardians about your wishes to donate your organs when you die. Your passing could benefit the lives of so many people, just like my cousin and grandfather.
Some parts of this novel were based on my own experiances. Some were based on fictional events. Some were based on the lives and tales of those who I love.
Many hours of relentless research was put into the making of "Ruby". However, some parts of this novel may not be completley accurate to real life situations.
If you are an Australian, you can find out more information about Organ Donation by vistining http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/public/services/aodr/index.jsp or visting any medicare near you.
There are no religious reasons not to donate organs and your death may give another person life.
Please watch out for the sequel to "Ruby", "Afterglow", coming soon!!!
Thank you so so much for supporting me! Please vote for me for the Watty Awards!
