Escape- Dan Howell

I lay in bed with my little sister Libby, tomorrow my crap excuse of a mother is sending me to boarding school because her new rich boyfriend Robert doesn't want me in the house anymore, ever since Libby was born 3 years ago, he's been taking Libby and mum off on holidays but leaving me at home with no money to feed myself.

Libby squirmed, she started snuggling into me, she was whispering my name in her sleep.

"Sky?" She mumbled opening one eye.

"I'm here babe, don't worry" I replied running my hand through her blonde hair.

"You won't be here tomorrow night!" Libby cried.

"if I could change your dads mind I would you know I love you a lot Libbs" I told her.

Libby started to cry, i treated Libby like a daughter, whenever mum and Robert went out drinking (which was a lot) I would stay in with Libby and take her to the park, I'd tell her stories about beautiful princesses who had horrible lives but got a happy ending, we would reenact them while walking round the town, my friends loved Libby too and would buy her little princess dolls in the pound shop.

Now I have to leave her, I hate Robert, I hate mum, I hate everyone.

The door opened and mums drunken giggles filled the silence in the hallway.

"Robert, the kids are asleep" Mum slurred the sound of her high heels filled the house as she stumbled around the hallway.

I turned the light on and told Libby to stay in bed, I walked downstairs and saw mum sitting on the floor, a glass of wine in her hands.

"Sky, my beautiful sky" she said "Come sit"

I sat beside her, Robert sent me a glare but I flipped him off, am I not allowed sit next to my own mother now?

"Sky, you know I love you right?" mum told me smiling.

"Jenny lets get you to bed" Robert said pulling mum up the stairs.

I followed them up walking back to my room but Robert had gone in and took Libby.

"Libby isn't allowed to stay in your room you know that" He said coldly.

"At least let me have some quality time with my sister before I go to the stupid boarding school" I yelled.

"SHE'S NOT YOUR SISTER GET TO BED NOW!" Robert yelled.

Libby squealed putting her hands over her ears as tears ran down her face.

"I HATE YOU ALL!" I screamed kicking Robert in his area.

He bent over in pain and I pushed him over, taking Libby into my room and slamming the door.

"Its ok Libby I don't hate you" I said cuddling Libby.

"I lobe you sky" She said.

"I love you too Libbs, your my world, you kno that right?"

She nodded falling asleep on my arms.

A few minutes later I fell asleep too

*The next day*

I'm in the car, on the way to this boarding school, Robert and Libby stayed at home, mum is driving me there.

When we got there, It was an old brick building that was at least 300 years old, there was moss growing on the walls as well.

The principal I'm guessing came outside with a boy, she ran over and shook my mums hand, the boy came over to me.

"Can I help you?" I asked him.

"I'm your tour guide of this old place, I'm guessing your parents didn't want you at home either?" he asked.

"My mums boyfriend doesn't want me" I told him.

"Me and my dad had a big fight because I was caught drinking down an alleyway, I'm dan" he said shaking my hand.

"Sky" I told him smiling.

"You'll be staying in my dorm if that's ok, all the girl ones are full" He said.

"That's fine" I replied.

"Hello Sky, my name is Ms Adams, I'm sure you'll enjoy your education here at Brooklyn College" The principle said shaking my hand.

"Thanks" I replied.

I looked behind me and realised my mum had gone.

"Not even a goodbye" I said to myself.

I got my bags and followed dan up to his dorm, he showed me my bed and said I could get ready for bed since it was 9 at night.

I got changed and got into bed, I know this sounds cheesy but I took one of Libby's shirts and used it as a cuddle toy,

"What's that?" Dan asked.

"Its one of my sisters shirts, me and her are really close" I told him.

"How close?"

"Shes like a daughter to me" I whispered.

Dan came over and hugged me.

"You'll see her at the mid term holidays" Dan told me.

I hope so
