Secrets revealed

Mathew's P.O.V

   I had been sat in my room for hours now. I had been to school and come home without seeing Charlie. It had gone dark outside. She was supposed to come over to do the English project. Has something happened? I kept thinking that I should check on her but I don't know if I should. She could just be sick.

   I finally got up off of the floor and went over to her house. I knocked on the door. As I waited for an answer I noticed wood boards over the front windows. Something had happened.

   The door opened and I saw Charlie. She looked like she had just woken up. She stood there in her p.j. trousers and a blue hoodie while she rubbed her eyes.

   "What happened Charlotte?" I asked.

   She raised her eyebrow and ran her hand through her hair.

   "Oh I'm sorry I forgot about coming over." She mumbled.

   "I meant why you weren't in school and the window." I explained'

   She frowned and told me to follow her inside. She led me into the living room where I stood frozen. I looked around the room. Smashed windows, a crumbled bookshelf, couches tipped over and scratch marks across the wall.

   "What happened Charlotte, did anyone hurt you?" I asked impatient to know the answer.

   She sat down on the floor and looked down. I waited for the answer and looked at her. I knew somewhere in me what had happened here but I wanted to make sure. The  questions is how the hell did they get passed me. I was sure they weren't here before I left.

   "The people who broke into your house, they were here last night. They trashed every room in the house and then asked me if I was some demon hunter. I didn't give them an answer and they left." She explained.

   Should I tell her? If I tell her and she doesn't believe me it could lead to her getting the police onto the clan. I suppose I have no choice. She would be terrified that they would come back if I didn't.

   "Charlie, I'm going to tell you something and you have to promise me you won't freak out." I said.

Charlotte's P.O.V

   I nodded my head and agreed. Not freak out? What can be so bad that I would freak out after last night.

   "The people who broke into your house last night, they..... they're not human. They were werewolves. They came looking for you because your special. You have power that they want. They want to use you for evil." He explained.

   What the hell. Does he really think I would believe something like that? That's possibly the most idiotic thing I have heard in a while.

   "And I'm supposed to believe this?" I asked.

   I looked at him and he opened his mouth like he was about to speak but he didn't. Instead I watched as two fangs grew from his gums. I quickly tried to move away but he caught my arm stopping me. I didn't look away. I couldn't. I was afraid that if I did he would hurt me. I froze for a second. What is he?

   "I'm a vampire." He said.

   I said nothing. He's a vampire? I tried moving away again.

   "Think, if I wanted to hurt you I would have done it by now. I won't hurt you I promise this. I'm your protector" He said quickly.

   For some reason I believed him. I didn't know if I was going mad or something but I stopped trying to move away. He let go of my arm.

   "I really do promise that I won't hurt you, I will protect you OK." He said.

   I sat for a second and took all this information in. Could this really be true. All that crap that movies and books are made from could actually be real. What happens to me though? What do I do?  How am I supposed to be a demon hunter? I don't even know what they are?

   "Look I know you have a lot of questions and I will answer them but I need to know if you mothers here first." He asked.

   "No she doesn't come back from work till eleven." I told him.

   "O.k will I think I should get you out of here." He said.

   What, where are we going? I didn't ask. I picked up my coat and followed him. He led me to the back of his house where I saw a grey car with blacked out windows. He got in and I copied getting in the opposite side. How can he drive I thought he was only sixteen?

   "Don't worry I have a licence." He laughed.
