I waited outside the school doors for Josh to come already. After about five minutes he finally came and we started walking to the bus bay.

"You catch the bus?" He asked me while we walked side by side.

"Yeah, haven't you noticed me yet? We catch the same bus"

He smiled a bit and stepped onto the bus. When we got on there there was only a seat up the back in front of Ray and Will.

"You sure you wanna sit there?" He asked me.

"Y-Yeah, it's fine" I nervously replied, tucking my hands into my pockets an tensing up.

We made our way there, squeezing through the rows where people left their bags and stuck their long teenage legs out. I frowned at the thought of having to approach them, sit near them for that matter. It was scary to think that after being the loner, after being so unpopular, forgotten, mistreated I became one of the most talked about people in the school and just because I tried to make the new kid welcome at such an intimidating high school, it could all turn to shit again.

I took a deep breath and carefully sat down on the bus seat, trying not to draw attention to myself where as Josh dropped himself so carelessly. I wrapped my hands around each other, rubbing them and softly tapping my feet on the ground because I was afraid of the two guys behind me. I may have had a status, a reputation at the school for being the 'tough' guy but in reality I was weaker than a snail. I only had a small portion of muscle that made my arms look a little bit muscly, I wore pants as much as I could to hide my scrawny, skinny legs and I was too self-conscious to let people see me without my shirt on.

"Damien? Is that really you babe?" A familiar girls voice asked as I heard the clanking of heels approaching. "Never even realised you caught my bus, at least we can spend some quality time now as a you a know... thing"

I turned my head and looked up at the tall blonde standing over Josh. He stared up at her too, glancing over at me every few seconds and you could see the look of confusion crossing his face. Leah wore tight light denim shorts with a crop top that showed off half of her stomach. Her barbie blonde hair was up in a pony tail and her green contacts made her eyes look irresistible. She was beautiful but more a fake type of beautiful.

"Hi" I answered.

She tilted her head and bit her lip softly, giggled and moved her hands to her hips.

"Whose this?" She rudely asked as she distastefully looked down at Josh.

"That's Josh, he's new" I quietly answered, shifting into a slightly more comfortable position and turned to face her.

She flicked her hair back and put on a fake smile.

"Cool" She said sarcastically. "Now get your lazy ass butt up so I can sit down"

Josh looked over at me and slowly got himself up, walking over to the seat up the front next to a nerdy looking girl. Leah sat down and started playing with my hair, kissing my cheek and asking questions about our next date but all I found myself doing was watching Josh talk to the girl next to him. He looked so innocent but so social. He sat, keeping to himself and squeezing himself up but you could tell he was talking like he normally would because I could see the girls face, how much expression was on it, how much fun she was having. Then it hit me. If Josh could make her so happy then he must've been doing something to make her laugh or talk a lot but he hardly talked to me or said anything funny. What if he didn't actually like me and was just putting up with me? Maybe I should stay clear of him...maybe I'm just being paranoid but either way I must have been doing something wrong and I was determined to fix it.
