Ok, my family is bird crazy! We got nine inside birds, countless finches and chickens (can't forget my evil geese!) oh and four duckies!! I just remembered to write this because my favorite rooster almost died. I am so great full he is alive. We got home 7 minutes later than usual and we got home to see all the birds against our fence. I saw a fox on top of my favorite rooster Cloudio. "Cloudio!!" I screamed. My brother ran screaming at the fox and the fox ran away. My dad picked up our rooster (he is so tame, he lets us pick him up all the time) and ran back to the car where I still was. "Get in the front seat!" He said. "Hold his head up, don't touch his neck!" My mom and brother began putting the rest of them up while my dad drove to the closest animal hospital. They happened to be closed! We drove to another vet who weren't open where we live but in a city 30 minutes away. "I don't think this rooster will survive that long!" My dad exclaimed while driving to the next closest vet in a town 10 minuets away. We made it to the other place but they were closed. We decided to try to drive to the other place and keep him alive. We thought the fox had bitten a vain and Cloudio was turning pale. I wanted to cry but fought back the tears. I was sure he was dying. My dad pulled up directions on his phone and said "Read the middle directions, Emilia." I did as I was told. He didn't listen correctly and and turned left instead of right. "Ugh! Dang it!" He yelled. We managed to make it to a place that looked like a human hospital but it was for animals. "Can you please save my daughter's rooster? He's dying!" My dad asked desperately. The lady behind the desk looked terrified. "We don't deal with exotic animals!" She said looking at him like he was a lion. "He's just a rooster, please!" "I'm sorry but we don't deal with exotics." She said. In my eyes, she looked like a witch. "Can a veterinarian please tell me that?" My dad asked. She walked out and said the same. "Please can someone help us!" My dad pleaded a tall blond lady. I was on the verge of tears but told myself not to cry. "Oh,sure!" She said. We managed to contact our veterinarian who would normally be asleep. Cloudio's eyes were slowly closing. "C'mon Cloudio! You can do it! Stay awake!" I cooed. Cloudio is used to falling asleep when I'm holding him because we let him and listen to his snores. We drove to the doctor's office (a house he bought for where he takes care of birds only) and restlessly tried to keep Cloudio awake and got some messages from my mom. She asked about Cloudio and told us what to do if he was bleeding on the outside. We assumed he was bleeding on the inside because there wasn't much blood on the outside. After what seemed like forever and including a owl sound from the trees we heard a noise from the inside and saw the amazing Doctor unlocking the door. We thanked him and told him what had happened. A few minutes later a girl in her early 20's (19,20?) came and helped. They gave him shots and pills and I even saw a tube thingy! They saved him and taught us how to give him the pills and liquids. He told us to keep him inside for at least a week because he wasn't very injured but it was shock. Shock can kill chickens! We are currently taking care of him and we love him very much. Chickens are smarter than you think and mean so much to our family. I am so thankful to our doctor but I won't say his name for safety reasons. Thank you DR!
