(Nicole)

Chris and I were driving to the movies to double date with Tyler and Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn and I had become pretty good friends and we were trying to get Ty and Chris to that point too.

We were singing along to Backseat Freestyle by Kendrick Lamar. We were laughing as we sang the chorus:

All my life I want money and power

Respect my mind or die from lead shower

I pray my dick get big as the Eiffel Tower

So I can fuck the world for 72 hou—

We were cut off as a force rammed into the back of Chris’ car and sent me flying out of the car. As I flew through the air, all I could see was the world spinning around me slowly fading into black as I lost consciousness.

(Chris)

I woke up with a throbbing head and ringing ears. I could feel blood dripping down my face. The glass of the windshield in front of me was cracked, but there was one particular spot that caught my attention. There was a giant hole in it.

The jagged edges of the glass were covered in blood. The blood of the only other person who was in the car. I looked around for my girlfriend, finding her nowhere. I tugged on my seatbelt, struggling to get it off. When I finally got it off, I pulled myself up out of the car. As I stood up, I felt a sharp pain in my leg as it buckled underneath me.

I yelled out in pain and reached down to grab it. I mustered up my strength and stood up as straight as I could. I looked behind my car to see the other car that had crashed into us. I saw the guy standing outside of his car on the phone with someone.

“We need a medic here immediately! Apparently someone flew out of the windshield of the car I hit….I don’t know who was driving….I—Oh he’s getting out it looks like…Chris Brown.” I limped over to him quickly. He pulled the phone away from his ear slightly and spoke, “Man, I’m so so sorry. Are you okay? Is yo—“ “Where’s my girlfriend?” I cut him off. “The person who went through the window?” He asked. I nodded. He pointed in front of my car and I thanked him. I quickly limped in the direction he pointed and called her name.

“NIC.” I repeatedly yelled. I noticed an odd bush nearby with broken branches. A bloody, yet familiar arm was hanging over it. My heart dropped. I hobbled over to it as my heart sunk even further into my stomach.

As I got closer, my fears were confirmed. “Nic?” I whispered. I hesitantly placed a hand on my brutally battered girlfriend. Tears were now streaming down my face. The guy from before showed up behind me, still on the phone. “Hey man, is she ok—Oh shit.” He said after he saw her. “Sir, we need an ambulance here immediately!” He panicked into the phone.

I sunk to my knees, holding her hand. “Fuck Nic,” I whispered. “This wasn’t supposed to happen. We’re supposed to get married and have kids because I fuckin’ love you. I can’t lose you, okay? C’mon wake up, Nic. It’s time to get up, let’s just go home and we can watch cartoons all day and cuddle. Get UP, Nic. NICOLE. WAKE UP!” I shouted.

I heard the whine of an ambulance in the distance as the guy tried to pull me away from Nicole. “Man, I know you’re freaking out, but you gotta chi—“ “MAN FUCK YOU. YOU DID THIS. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT? THIS IS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE AND SHE’S FUCKING HURT BECAUSE OF YOU. GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM US.” I roared.

He backed up, looking like he was about to shit his pants. I glared at him coldly while still gripping Nicole’s hand. The ambulance pulled up and he ran over frantically talking to them. They rushed over to us and of course hauled Nic out first before checking on me.

“Sir, are you okay? Are you feeling pain in any particular area?” One of them asked. “Yeah, my leg hurts” I responded. They prodded and felt my leg for a minute, “You have the possibility of a broken leg, we need to take you to the hospital.” I nodded, still watching Nic to make sure they weren’t manhandling her.

They helped me up and wrapped both my arms around either of their shoulders. We made our way over to the ambulance and they hoisted me up into it with Nic. As I slowly calmed down, the pain in my leg started to intensify. I realized just how bad it actually was and couldn’t even try to contain my screams. They finally just had to put one of those masks on my face.

I tried to fight it, but I slowly slipped into unconsciousness.

My eyes slowly opened as I stared up at the bright lights above me. I heard the steady beat of the heart monitor next to me. I hesitantly sat up and looked around the room. I noticed my mom, Tyga, and a familiar-looking woman next to him.

My mom’s eyes lit up as she noticed me. She rushed over to me and carefully engulfed me in her arms. “Baby, I’m so glad you’re okay. How are you feeling?” She asked. Tyga also stood up and walked over to me, but the other woman stayed seated.

“I’m good mom, I’m okay. Hey, T” I said. He hugged me with tears in his eyes. “Man, I’m glad you’re okay.” He smiled slightly. It was silent for a few seconds before I finally decided to address the elephant in the room.

I nodded my head towards the stranger. “Not to be rude….but who are you?” I questioned.  Her lips turned upwards in a slight smile. “My…it’s been a long time if you don’t remember me” She responded. Her voice sounded familiar too, but I just couldn’t place it. I raised my eyebrow at her.

Tyga walked over to her and placed an arm around her shoulders. “She’s my mom.” He said. My eyes widened. “What? Where’s Nic’s mom?! Why isn’t she here?!” I stared at her familiar features as the memories rushed in.

Memories of Tyga leading me away from school to his real mom’s house for the first time. I met her and they explained everything. Why the rest of them didn’t know T wasn’t fully related to them. Why their parents never mentioned it and acted like Mr. Stevenson had never cheated. Why T had an accent when the rest of them didn’t.

Everyone was silent. I asked them again, “Where’s Nicole’s mom.” Tyga looked down angrily, “They both refused to come. So my mom came instead” “Are you kidding me?! She doesn’t know, T! You can’t tell her this way, not now” “Look she needs someone” “Wait, where is she?”

At that moment, there was a knock on the door. A nigga, who I assumed was a doctor, walked in. He looked down at his clipboard before speaking, “Nicole Stevenson is out of surgery, one of you may see her at a time. But I must warn you…she may be a bit….discombobulated.”

He walked out and my mom and Michael helped me up. “Are you sure you’re okay with me going first?” I asked him. He nodded. They helped me down the hall to her room and opened the door for me. I hobbled in and sat down next to her.

I sat there for hours, just talking to her and staring at her, waiting for her to wake up. I fell asleep that way. I woke up in the middle of the night to her voice. It sounded raspy, but it was definitely her. I shot up and headed over to her as fast as I could.

I grabbed her hand and placed my hand on her face as she slowly opened her eyes. I sighed in relief, “Nic, I’m so fucking glad you’re okay” I leaned down to kiss her and felt her tense up and push me away.

I stood there confused as she furrowed her eyebrows at me, “Um….what happened?” She asked. “Who are you?”
