"Fire!" Screamed the frail old man, "Fire, fire!". The flames erupted from the thatched rooves and bellowed across the night sky. Babies crying, people dying, they all threw buckets of water at the roaring inferno. Too late. The town was now nothing but piles of burnt wood and crisped hay.

That was all last night though. Now nothing but a nightmare that only few woke up from. Ismae was one of them. Now alone cold and homeless. There was nowhere she could go, no one she could see. Hopeless, she waited for death to play its nasty game with her.

Days had past now, not another living soul had come to her sight. She hadn't slept or eaten anything. It was a surprise she was even still alive by now.

The smell of burning was blanketed around her, polluting the air. Charcoal smoke had replaced the once dazzling blue sky.

Her jet black hair was infested by filth and her face was masked by dust. Her emerald green eyes were now red and itchy and her rosy red lips were now as white as snow. Her fingernails were dirty and her hands were bloody and shaking. Was this a life?
