1986:

Buzzard ran into the bedroom and up onto the bed.
"Buzzard. Buzzard! Please!" Jermaine attempted to shove the dog off the bed. He rolled over and checked the alarm clock. "C'mon Buzz. It's six in the morning!" Jermaine moaned. But Buzzard had better ideas. He jumped off the bed, took the corner of the duvet in his jaws and began to tug hard. Jermaine groaned. There was no winning with this dog. "Alright alright, I'm up. I'm getting up. Get off ya lousy mutt." He laughed.
The only other living creature in the house apart from Jermaine was Buzzard. His bestie.

The two housemates walked into the kitchen. Jermaine made his breakfast and filled Buzzard's bowl with dogfood, setting it on the table. Buzzard hopped up onto the chair beside Jermaine and began to eat.
Jermaine put on the TV. "News." He mumbled quietly sitting back down beside Buzzard.
He wasn't paying much attention to the TV until he heard her name.
"And I am joined here by production manager, Hazel Gordy." The news reporter announced.
In shock, surprise and terrible memories Jermaine looked up. There she was. Still beautiful. Happy. She had the life she dreamed of. The life she said she couldn't live with him. Buzzard barked excitedly as if trying to get her attention. Jermaine couldn't believe it. The studio wasn't too far away from his home.
'I can't just walk up to her after four years since we broke up and say I still love you. Anyways, she probably has a new guy. A better guy.' Jermaine thought miserably. It was no use. Checking his watch Jermaine stood up to clean the two bowls. He couldn't be late for work. Making sure Buzzard would be okay with his neighbour Jermaine jumped into his car and drove to work.

Jermaine's house may have been close to the studio but his job was even closer.
Pulling up to the restaurant Jermaine got out of the car and walked in.
"Jermaine man, your lucky not to be caught by Mr Amit. Don't cha know how late you are?" Jermaine's workmate and friend, Neil asked.
"Good morning to you too buddy." Jermaine answered. Neil stared at him for a bit.
"Did ya see the news?"
Jermaine knew this wasn't just an ordinary question. Neil wasn't one to talk about the news unless it affected him or someone he knew.
"Yeah. I did."
Neil became excited.
"So what's the plan? What cha gonna say to her?"
Jermaine took a step back.
"I'm not going to see her." He said. Neil's smile disappeared.
"Why? You love her." He sighed.
"No I don't!" Jermaine shot back. "Neil, it's been four years since I've last seen Hazel. I don't love her."
"You don't love her?" Neil scoffed. "Jermaine for four years you haven't went out with anyone else. Every time I've tried to set you up with someone you've got some random stupid reason to get out of it. Believe me you haven't stopped loving Hazel."
Jermaine looked down. Neil decided to carry on. "Before you met her you were going out with whoever you could. Then you met her and she left you like plenty of girls have done before. But you haven't moved on. Last time you saw her she said she loved you. She still could."
Jermaine sighed.
"Neil... she also said she couldn't be with me because of her job." He replied. Neil tutted annoyed.
"But she was working hard to get the job. Now she has it. She's her own boss. She can do what she likes. Be with whoever she wants."
Jermaine looked out the window.
"In that case... she probably already has someone."
