Chapter 8

DC's POV-
Got some homework today. "Dad!" I ran inside.
"Hey sweetie! What's up?" My father asked.
"I've got math homework and numbers and letters don't belong together." I pouted.
My father laughed and help up a hand and laughed. "Please, I'm as dumb as you are. I'm of no help here. Why don't you ask your Cara friend? I don't know how, but she's one smart cookie."
I felt a blush creep across my cheeks.
"Yeah, I'll do that." I mutter, pulling out my phone and texting Cara.

DC-Hey Cara, u busy?
Cara♥-Nope. Finished my HW. What's up?
Hey, don't judge the heart, OK?
DC-That's it. Homework. Letters mated with numbers and they had a kid. It isn't pretty.
Cara♥-XD I'll be over in 10 minutes, K?
DC-K. Ty!!!!!
Cara♥-No probelm.

I sighed and plopped onto my bed, wondering if I should so something with my mess of pink hair. Ugh, why do I get so nervous around her? I ended up doing my signature emo style that ends in a braid, throwing a black beanie over it to hide the rest of the mop of hair. Ugh, I see her every day, why do I get so nervous when we're alone!?

"Wow, we finished earlier than I expected. You catch on quick!" Cara exclaims, staring smugly at our finished product. It was mostly Cara doing the work and me nodding and pretending I knew what she was saying...but yeah. A win's a win. "So, you still have a couple hours until your Paps pick you up. Wanna watch a movie or something?"
"Yes!" Cara exclaimed happily. "Will your brother mind?"
Mason was in his room with his girlfriend, probably making out or something. (Woah, pretty blunt here, DC. Bet you wish you were doing that with a special someone *insert le lenny face*)
"Nah, he's...busy." I roll my eyes and Cara laughs. "OK! Have you seen Scorch Trails?"
I nodded. "Cara, you've seen that with me 100 times."
"BECAUSE IT IS PERFECT!" She exclaims. "Wanna watch it again?"
I laugh. "Sure, I'll watch whatever makes you happy." Then I gulped, hoping that didn't come out as cliché as it sounded like it did. Fortunately, Cara didn't seem to notice and was already on a rant about her favorite character, Newt.
This is going to be a long two hours. But at least I get to spend them with Cara.
