The school day ended and I was exhausted. P.E at the end of the day was a terrible idea. I was still trying to catch my breath as I slid into my car. Starting the ignition, I drove back home. Well, what was home for now.
I arrived at the house and walked inside. Already, there were people packing boxes, while others lined the walls.
"Mom. Dad. What's going on?" Though all the people were in there and boxes were everywhere, it looked empty.
"My job is being transferred to Willow Falls. We're flying there tonight. That's why I hired so many people." Most kids would be deeply saddened that they had to move. Not me. I almost burst with joy. Finally. A place where I wouldn't have a solid reputation as "the rich girl". I might actually have a chance at a real friendship.
I rushed up the stairs to see my room that was already packed. Smiling, I looked over to the box of clothes. I knew that I wasn't going to wear those anymore. I decided to do a quick shopping trip before I went. Climbing out the window, I rushed down to the store. If my parents knew where I was going, they would want to see the end result. And I wasn't going to let that happen. It would ruin everything.
I arrived at the store and walked in. Everywhere were clothes I had seen but could never get. Smiling more than ever, I walked through the racks.
I picked up ten dollar shirts here, fifteen dollar t-shirts of bands that not many people knew about that I had been listening to for the past couple years, and some five dollar jeans and shorts. I also picked up a pair of fifteen dollar tennis shoes. Perfect clothes.
At the check-out, I found out that I had spent one hundred and fifteen dollars. It was way less than I normally spent. Giving the lady at the check out a thank you and getting a look of shock in from her, I rushed out the door.
Climbing back in the window, I ripped open the clothing box. I stuck my new clothes under my other ones, before sealing it back up with tape the people had accidentally left in my room. Nobody would know they were down there, and nobody had to. I wouldn't be the rich girl of the school. I would be the normal girl of the school. The one I craved to be.
Hours passed and it was time to fly. My parents had ordered a private jet for us, of course, and our boxes were place inside. At the time, I was wearing the cheapest thing my parents would allow me in. It was a dark blue, silk shirt with black leather pants. The pants were not tight at all and I was glad. Plus the shirt was about a size too big, so I would be okay in it. They cost fifty bucks each, so my parents were also satisfied.
The view from the plane was gorgeous. The wide open sky in front of us, the things that looked so big before but now seemed tiny below us. It was amazing.
"Just five hours away," my mom called happily. Smiling at the thought I was going so far from this place, I closed my eyes and rested. Rested and dreamed.
