Adrien rode in silence as him and his trusty adviser, Nino, headed back to the castle after a long trip to the village. Adrien sighed as he remembered the maiden girl he nearly ran over in town. Nino couldn't help it, he knew what Adrien was thinking about. They had been best friends ever since Adrien's mother died in the plague. They did everything together: hunting, horse back riding, archery, and most of all......PRANKS!!

Nino had a bag full of them and every chance he gets he lets one lose. The results are always hilarious. The funniest prank Nino had pulled so far was the one for Monsieur Copycat(that's not his real name, it's his nickname). Nino had him convinced that everyone was copying him and that sent both of them into a fit of snickers.

*Flashback*

"Oh my gosh, Nino! I can't believe you actually pulled it off!"

"Hush Adrien, or you'll blow my cover and I still haven't finished it"

*Snickers* "Are you kidding me, there's more!"

" STOP COPYING ME. I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO DOES THE COPYING AROUND HERE!"

*End of Flashback*

Ah those were good times but, lately Adrien has been busy will his princely duties and now these out-of-the-blue random thoughts of the maiden girl he had encountered in the village during one of their competitions.

"Hey Nino, I'm gonna stop by my mother's grave real quick, I'll catch up with you later"

"Of course Adrien, I'll stall Natalie for you while your away."

Nino ordered his horse to a canter and rode of. Adrien went the other direction to where his mother was buried in the castle grounds. He missed his mother very much and his father did too, he just didn't show it. Today was her birthday, so Adrien decided to leave a giant boutique of white roses on her grave. They were her favorite roses out of the dozens of roses and others flowers she grew.

"Happy Birthday, Mother......."

That night Adrien sat at his windowsill over looking the wall. He couldn't wait until tomorrow because tomorrow was the annual St. Michaelmas Festival, a celebration of the wonderful years it has been since the plague and the famous monk, St. Michael, who saved the kingdom from destruction and ruin. Adrien couldn't wait to play games, dance, maybe even take on a dare or two. But most importantly, he hoped he could see the blue eyed maiden girl again. He didn't know why but he just did. He hoped his father would approve of him going. Nino could go if he wanted to but Adrien knew Nino would never leave him behind. Adrien smiled to himself and went to bed unaware of the strange events that were going to occur the next day
