We arrive at Wendy's. I'm half expecting Harry to open the door for me again but he just walks straight inside, cautioning me to follow him. The bright lights of the restaurant contrast with the dark, winter sky causing my eyes to slightly burn.
Harry is already in the queue when I enter the doors, 'What do you want?' He asks.
'I'll just have a burger, fries and a coke.'
'Alright, sit down and I'll bring it over.'
It's busier than I thought it would be and the only table free is one opposite a group of rowdy teenage girls, similar to Kylie's age, sat round the table opposite.
It's 5 minutes before Harry walks over with the tray of food, he ordered the same as me. 'Here, let me give the money.' I call, opening my purse.
'You think I can't afford a $5 meal?' His dimples showing in that smirk I've recently grown attracted too.
'He's so hot.' The girls behind me whisper too loudly, causing a chuckle to escape Harry's mouth.
'So you like compliments?' I question, picking up my burger.
'What?'
'You like compliments.' I half laugh.
'I don't dislike them, no. Is that a problem? Is Lara jealous of a few teenage girls?' He asks sarcastically, his bottom lip protruding.
I giggle. 'Are you joking? You really think I'm bothered about what some teens have to think about you?'
He stares into my eyes for a second before turning round and winking at the girls. Allowing them to scream with delight. He is such a ladies man. Is it okay that it makes me feel good to know that out of all the girls on campus, he's here with me?
During dinner we talk about ourselves and school. I tell him about why I've decided to move out and how my dad still isn't quite talking to me. In return he tells me about his college courses and all the illegal substances he's done. I don't know whether I'm impressed or concerned by his vast list.
I don't know what you'd call mine and Harry's relationship. I don't even know if we're friends.
'Are we friends Harry?' I interrupt him talking about how bad he thinks the college is.
'I don't know, are we?'
'I'm not sure, that's why I'm asking Einstein.'
'Friends aren't rude to each other and don't call each other names.' He says, rolling his eyes sarcastically.
'They also don't nearly fuck everytime they see each other.' He adds, triggering me to nearly spit my drink out.
'That's never happened.' I protest.
'I know you want me, it's just a matter of time before you loosen to the idea and let me get in your pants.'
With that comment and stand up, grab my bag and storm to the door. Ignoring Harry calling my name behind me.
'I was only joking Lara. C'mon, we were having a good time.'
'Were being the key word of that sentence. I was actually enjoying your company and you had to just ruin it with your stupid comment.'
'I was only kidding, just forget it.'
'I don't like that kind of talk, I'm not used to it.'
He laughs. I knew he would. I think he forgets the background I was raised in. I told him how strict my parents were during our dinner, he clearly wasn't listening to me like I thought he was.
