A/N: I did a collab with waltzforpony and this fic was born.
People stop in the middle of the hall as Ryan Ross and Gerard Way catch their attention. Not for the usual reasons—they aren't giving each other cute gifts or holding hands. They're doing the exact opposite. They're yelling and arguing at each other, and it doesn't look like they'll end up staying together. Their faces are red with frustration, eyebrows pulled together and mouth tugged into a frown. All in all, it looks like the end of this high school's power couple. The only reason Ryan and Gerard were ever popular is because they're a gay couple. Steal that away from them, they're nothing. At this point, there are tears in both boys' eyes, but this time it's not because of happiness. It's because they know their fairytale relationship is coming to a dead end. Ryan keeps yelling at the raven haired boy with such emotion that you can practically feel the sadness and rage that he's feeling through his voice. Gerard is screaming back but his voice is laced with desperation and hopelessness. "How could you do that to me?! After two years, Gerard, what the hell?" Ryan screams burying his head in his hands. "Why would you cheat on me with him?" Ryan asks.
Gerard mutters with a trembling lip, "I was drunk, Ryan, you need to understand that it meant nothing to me. Ryan, I love you!"
"Well if you did truly love me, you wouldn't have drank yourself blind then hooked up with a random person!"
As of right now, there's a crowd forming. The principal might come soon to break things up. Ryan shakes his head with disappointment, the anger drifting away quickly. He looks at Gerard, a pleading look on his face. Ryan narrows his eyes at him. "I really can't trust you, Gee," he says. "I think it's better if we just break up. I'm not gonna keep myself paranoid."
"Fuck, c'mon," Gerard mutters as Ryan walks away. He runs a hand through his hair, tears beginning to escape his eyes. He tosses a glare at all the people, but one of them catches his eye. Frank Iero.
The short, tattooed man looks him straight in the eye while Gerard just looks back with a defeated gaze. Frank offers a smile which Gerard tries to return but mostly ends up as a grimace. The shorter boy walks away with Brendon Urie, leaving Gerard to mourn over the death of his relationship by himself. All Gerard wants to do now is drink until he can't feel the pain but thats what got him in this mess in the first place. Because of a single mistake in his drunken stupor, Gerard lost what he needed most. He goes outside and notices the gray clouds in the sky.
What a cliché, he thinks to himself.
Gerard begins making his way home just as the first few drops fall from the sky.
"Fucking perfect!" he mutters angrily.
The raindrops and clouds represent Gerard right now. The clouds being Gerard: gray and miserable. The raindrops being his tears, which started as a couple drops but are now flowing freely. Both his tears and the rain are falling against his will.
As Gerard goes home in the rain, Frank and Brendon get into Brendon's purple minivan. Frank snickers whenever he sees it, mocking the boy in his own head because he's heard the same insults too many times before. "I can't believe that they're actually over. I thought they were gonna get married and have, like, tons of gay babies," Brendon mumbles.
"Brendon," Frank begins carefully, "you cannot tell any other person about this."
Brendon frowns, confused. "I'm your bestie, dude. I know pretty much everything about you. You can trust me," he replies.
"I'm not totally sure—considering I was really drunk.... But I think I'm the one that fucked Gerard Way," Frank murmurs. The car comes to a stop, making the both of them jolt. "The hell?!" Frank yells.
"I'm sorry! Do you think you'll tell anyone else?" Brendon questions. Frank shrugs. He hasn't thought about it yet. Besides, if he does confess, that won't be good for any of them.
"I... Uh..." Frank drifts off, seeing a familiar figure on he sidewalk. "Is that Gerard?"
"Don't distract me—"
Frank rolls down the window. "Hey! Gee! Want a ride?" he yells.
Right when Gerard looks at them, Frank hears Brendon mutter under his breath: "I knew he was a bottom, goddamn." Frank starts laughing hysterically, which causes Brendon to burst out laughing too. The two teenagers are a mocking sight to see. Poor Gerard is left to be confused and slightly suspicious. Well, he has the right to be, after all there are two strange men laughing their asses off, one of them looked vaguely familiar and was very, very attractive. The other had a forehead bigger than your eyes when it's nine in the afternoon— and coincidentally, that's often the time when Brendon would usually get higher than a fucking airplane. Once Frank sees the look on Gerard's face, he stops laughing and calls him over again.
"C'mon Gee! Get in the bloody car."
The older boy begins walking to the car and climbs inside of the purple minivan. He tries to stay as far away from Frank without making it painfully obvious. He fails. Frank notices what the boy is doing and inches closer to Gerard, practically sitting on him, and leans in. Frank makes his voice as seductive as he can and whispers in the shocked boy's ear.
"I don't bite, Gee. Unless you want me to." Frank pulls away, giving Gerard a wink. Both the shorter boy and Gerard look up to see Brendon laughing his ass off. The two best friends high five, once again leaving Gerard confused but slightly happier.
"Sorry if this is a touchy subject, but like, did you and Ross...?" Brendon drifts off, glancing at Gerard, who gives him a simple nod. "Damn. That sucks."
"I know," Gerard huffs. "We've never really fought before. I don't see why he can't give me a second chance! I've always been loyal to him. I was just drunk."
"Hey, the guy doesn't know what he's missing," Frank mumbles. Gerard narrows his eyes at him.
"Damn right," Gerard mutters. "Frank, can you help me out?"
"With what?" he hums.
"I need you to help me show Ryan exactly what he's missing."
