Frisk, though dizzy from his fall from the top, started looking around frantically. When they tried to get up, however, they realized that they felt very weak, as if something was sucking away their life force. Frisk frantically screamed, "Help! Help me!" even though it seemed useless. It seemed as though the more they tried, the weaker they felt. Suddenly, Frisk heard a cry. It seemed to come from some kind of animal. But what animal could possibly sound like that?, Frisk thought. Suddenly, a brownish dog like creature popped up from the shadows. It looked hurt too, with bruises on its sides, it looked like somebody beat it up and never treated it with medical care. Frisk spread their arms out. "Come here," they said to it. The creature responded, walking towards them with a limp. It finally reached Frisk and they held it in their arms. "Poor thing. Don't worry. I won't let anything happen to you. Now, let's see if we can find some help." To their surprise, the thing actually smiled. Suddenly, even though they felt weak before, Frisk felt rejuvenated, with new energy bursting inside of them. Suddenly they didn't feel so weak. They truly wanted to help this thing, whatever it was. They felt inspired. They felt...DETERMINED.
Frisk walked the dark corridor, holding the animal in their arms. Feeling the DETERMINATION running through their system, Frisk lead the way into a small room. At the center was a golden flower, much like the ones that broke Frisk's fall. However, this one talked. "Howdy! I'm Flowey. Flowey the Flower. And welcome to the Underground." The plant looks at Frisk, then continues. "I see you've already made friends with a POKEMON."
"A Poke-what?" Frisk asked.
"A Poke-MON. That one you're carrying there is called Eevee. It's not as strong as you would want it to be. At least, if you want to survive here. But I'd be happy to help you understand the rules!" Flowey said.
"What rules?" Frisk asked.
"Why...the rules of battling POKEMON here, of course." Flowey responded. Everything then turned black and white. Flowey started to explain how in Pokemon Battles, each TRAINER, whatever that meant, used their Pokemon to battle each other, and the winner of that battle decided the loser's fate, either MERCY...or DEATH. Something about that made Frisk sick to their stomach. "Well, let's try and see if your Eevee of yours can battle. After all, I only have one POKEMON. It's a fair draw. A one-on-one. How about it HUMAN?" Frisk hesitated. There was something about Flowey that threw them off. But deep down, he was somewhat upset that Flowey called Eevee weak. That was it. Frisk felt DETERMINED to show Flowey wrong. "Okay. Let's battle!" And the battle engaged.
"GO EEVEE!" Frisk shouted as Eevee jumped from their arms, filled with the same power as Frisk. Flowey didn't seemed fazed by this at all. In fact, he look AMUSED. "HAHAHAHAHAHA! YOU IDIOT!" Flowey's face turned evil, and he continued. "You think that puny little runt is gonna kill my POKEMON?! YOU ARE SO STUPID!" and without continuing, Flowey threw a red and white ball into the air, which immediately burst open and the beast inside took form. It looked like a monster, but with a giant plant on its back. It roared as all the DETERMINATION Frisk and Eevee had was slowly being replaced with fear. Eevee ran back into Frisk's arms, and Frisk held the Pokemon tightly as the massive beast prepared an attack. "Aw what. Don't like my Venusaur? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Flowey laughed. "Now Venusaur, SOLAR BEAM ATTACK!"
All of a sudden, a blast of fire interrupted Venusaur's attack. "UGH! USELESS!" Flowey said as he recalled the beast. He then turned to Frisk. "This isn't the last time I'll see you. You got lucky. Remember that." And with that, Flowey retreated into the ground as a white goat woman showed up with a horse, but its mane was fire. "That horrible plant! Torturing such a poor, innocent new trainer!" She turned to what looked to be her POKEMON. "Good job on the Flamthrower attack, Rapidash." She then turned to the human child at her feet. "Do not be afraid of me, my child. I am Toriel. I am the caretaker of the RUINS, the place you are in right now. Don't fear, I will take care of you and your Eevee. I find it rather cute. Poor things. Do you have a Poke Ball to keep it in?"
"No..." Frisk said, not exactly knowing what a Poke Ball was, or even what just happened with Flowey.
Toriel pulled out the same ball Flowey used to bring Venusaur out. At first Frisk was scared, thinking she might pull Venusaur out and try to attack. Instead she handed it to Frisk. They touched the little white button and it grew in size. "Go ahead. Put Eevee inside. I promise it'll be fine. Just have Eevee touch it." Eevee put it's paw on the white button. The ball opened and Eevee went inside a red beam of light. "See? And you can bring it out again later, once we reach our destination. In the meantime, here, use this Larvesta in case we run into wild Pokemon. Now, come along." Toriel extended her hand out and Frisk thankfully accepted it.
And with that, Frisk's journey into the Underground had finally begin. With Eevee and now Larvesta and their side, Frisk is somewhat prepared to face the dangers of the Underground. And even the fiery fate that awaits them and Toriel.
