*Hey guys. Author here. PREPARE YOURSELF. THIS IS A LOOOOOOOOONG CHAPTER.

Frisk walked with Toriel through the door leading to a room with two staircases. They both went up the right staircase, leading to a room with about six buttons on the floor, a lever, and a closed door. "Welcome to your new home, my child. This area is called the RUINS. It's the first place you'll see in the Underground. Don't worry, the monsters here are...somewhat nice. But I will always be here to protect you. And I know my way along this place, so don't worry about getting lost. And if necessary, I will heal Larvesta and Eevee if you need. So, don't worry. Anyway..." She pointed to the buttons on the floor. "...in order to advance through here, you must solve multiple puzzles. For example, this one. You must press the buttons in a specific way in order to open the door." Toriel then started to walk on four buttons. After all four were pressed the door at the end of the room opened. Toriel turned to Frisk and smiled. "See? Like that! Come along now." She exited the room, Frisk following close by. They both then turned right into a large hallway with what looked to Frisk like spikes at the end. Frisk looked around and saw on the wall were three levers, with two marked. Toriel then explained about this room. "My child. In order to advance this room, you must pull the levers I marked on the walls. Once you do that, the spikes at the end of the room will lower and we can advance." Frisk does as they are told, going up to and pulling the two levers marked with yellow paint. After pulling the second lever, Frisk hears a grinding sound, turns to where the sound came from, then sees that the spikes were gone. Toriel come up to them and congratulates them on their success. Frisk smiles, then takes Toriel's hand again and moves onto another room.

They enter the next room and this time, a creature comes up to Frisk and looks at them curiously. The, thing, whatever it was supposed to be, had a green top, almost akin to hair, with what looked like a red blade on the middle of its head, with the rest of its body being white. It looked up at Frisk, which then made Toriel turn around, as Frisk stopped following her when the thing came up. "Ah yes, Ralts. It's not common around these parts...not like a wild Pokemon to come to you without attacking. I guess it likes you!" Frisk smiled at Ralts, then asked. "Do you...like me?" The Ralts smiled and shook its head. Toriel continued, "That's right. Ralts is a Psychic type, so with its psychic power it feels you're emotions. I guess it feels your fear, and must feel the same fear." Frisk looked at Ralts one more time. "You could try catching it." Toriel said. Frisk...liked the idea. Ralts was cute, and it seemed like it needed company. "To make it official..." Toriel pulls out another Poke Ball, then hands it to Frisk. "Capture Ralts in this." Frisk takes it, then holds it in front of Ralts. The Pokemon looks at them, then decides they are a good enough Trainer for it and touches the white button. The Poke Ball opens, and Ralts goes inside. Toriel smiles. "And there! My child, you have just captured your first wild Pokemon. This is a big achievement. You are probably never going to forget this moment. Let's continue." Frisk points to a dummy that sort of looks like a monster. "Oh, I guess you do need to learn how to fight against other monsters in Pokemon Battles. Why don't I show you by having a little battle with you." She looks at Frisk reassuringly. "Don't worry, I will only use one Pokemon. I will go easy on you, my child." She stands a ways away from Frisk, then throws a Poke Ball into the air. It opens, showing a little dog-like Pokemon, with orange fur and a white mane. "Do you like my Growlithe? It's nice isn't it?" She says while smiling. She then turns to Frisk. "Okay, why don't you try using Ralts? Each Poke Ball should be marked with the Pokemon's name when you capture it." Frisk finds the one marked Ralts, then throws the ball into the air like Toriel. The Poke Ball bursts open and Ralts comes out, ready for battle. Toriel looks at Frisk, a little smirk on her face, though still looking kind. The battle commences.

"Growlithe, Ember." Growlithe responds by spitting a small flame from its mouth that hits Ralts and burns it a little. Frisk guessed that now was their turn. Frisk looked at Ralts available moves through his determination. (They didn't know how it worked, it just happened) "Ralts..." They said, uncertainty traced throughout their voice. Ralts looked at Frisk, waiting for a command. "....Ralts, use Confusion." Ralts turned back to Growlithe, then summoned a small burst of psychic power and concentrated it on Growlithe. It damaged Growlithe, but now Growlithe seemed to be confused. "Oh! It seems you've managed to inflict confusion on Growlithe. That's impressive, though making things a little harder for me." Toriel then went into a thinking motion, then decided. "Growlithe, try using Growl." Growlithe actually managed to compose itself enough to use Growl, though it did no damage to Ralts, but with what Frisk could see, Ralts' Attack stat, whatever that was, dropped. "What?" Frisk looked about as confused as Growlithe was. "I see you're confused about what just happened. You see, my child, Growl is one of many moves a Pokemon can use to make their opponent weaker. Growl lowers my foe's physical Attack, so when they try to hit Growlithe normally, it will do less damage then normal. These moves are great for disrupting your opponent." She then stops. "Oh I'm sorry, was I rambling again? It's your turn, isn't it? Go ahead and pick your move then." Frisk looked at Ralts' moveset. Confusion and Growl. Should I attack or lower Growlithe's Attack? Frisk thought. Growlithe looks like it might attack, so...

"Ralts, use Growl!" Frisk yells, now feeling the heat of the battle. (buh dum cch!) Ralts made a cute little sound that clearly lowered Growlithe's Attack stat.

"Good move, my child! Alright, I'll humor you. Growlithe, use Tackle!" Growlithe charged at Ralts, full speed, but did not as much damage as Frisk thought it would. They looked at Toriel. "Alright, my child. Your move." Frisk thinks, then decides on Confusion. "Ralts, use Confusion!" Ralts once again summons psychic power and then unleashes it on Growlithe. The fire dog suffers the damage, then falls to the floor, no longer able to battle. Toriel looks down in shock. "It must have suffered a critical hit!" Toriel picks Growlithe up, then congratulates Frisk on their victory. "You did well, my child!" She returns Growlithe to its Poke Ball, then walks over to Frisk and Ralts. "I think we should celebrate. Here, have these." She then hands Frisk a handful of Poke Balls. "Use these if you want to capture a Pokemon that you see in the wild." Frisk smiles, feeling accomplished at their victory over Toriel. They then put the Poke Balls away in their bag, not even remembering why they brought a bag to the top of the mountain. Frisk then looked at Ralts, then squatted to meet Ralts's height. "Good job, Ralts! Did you hear what she said? We won!" Ralts looked back at Frisk with excitement and happiness. Ralts then jumped into Frisk's arms. Frisk decided to carry it for the remainder of the journey.

They continued on throughout the RUINS, solving a puzzle along the way. They stopped in what looked to be a long hallway. Toriel turns to Frisk, who is still holding Ralts. "My child..." she says. "I am sorry, but I have what may seem to be...a difficult request." She squatted down next to Frisk, then continued. "I want you to walk down this hallway, all by yourself. Do you think you can handle that?" Frisk hesitated, but Ralts reassured them. Frisk then turned back to Toriel and shook their head. Toriel stood up, now smiling, though her face still showed concern. "Good. That's my brave child. Now, please stand back." Frisk did as they were told, watching as Toriel used her magic and burst into flames. Frisk screams out of surprise, but when the flames were gone, Toriel had dissapeared. Frisk looked around frantically, but she was nowhere to be found. Frisk became scared, but Ralts noticed this and used its powers to calm Frisk down. Frisk started to ease a bit, and now calmed, Frisk started down the hallway, just as Toriel had instructed.

                                                                                    ... ...

The hallway seemed to last for hours, with Frisk walking every step of the way, Ralts keeping Frisk from overreacting. Frisk started to feel lonely, so they let out Eevee and the Larvesta Toriel gifted to them. Frisk like all three of the cute creatures, feeling like they were all their companions. After a while of walking, Frisk and the three Pokemon finally reached the end of the hallway. Toriel appeared from a pillar behind them and greeted Frisk with her usual "My child"
"My child, I am so glad you made it. Yes, I was behind this pillar the entire time, though after a while it seemed as though you were never going to show up. But, I never gave up on you, and look at you! You made it!" She hugs Frisk, careful not squeeze Ralts. She then looks down and stands up. "Though...their was a reason for this test. I wanted to test how you would feel alone." She turned her gaze slightly away from Frisk's face. This was obviously hard for her. "You see...I have to go away for a while. Now," She bent on one knee, looking Frisk in the face. "I want you to stay right here. Don't go anywhere. I will be back in a while, though I don't know when specifically." She handed to Frisk what looked to be a small blue device that sort of looked like a phone, but didn't at the same time. "It's a little bit of outdated technology, but this is a PokeGear." She produced the same device, but purple. "Here, let's exchanged numbers." Toriel showed Frisk how to activate it, and then the PokeGears notified Frisk that Toriel had been registered. "There. Now if you want to call me, just dial the number and I will pick up. I always have my PokeGear with me, so don't worry. Call me if you ever feel lonely or need something. I will always be one call away." And with that, she bursts into flames and dissapeared once more, leaving Frisk alone with their Pokemon again.
