Niall’s life consists of him living in a cozy house in the nice area of town. Everyone who knows him always speak good to him and about him. Maybe they’re just feeling sorry for him, or maybe they actually like him for his happy mood, his carefree smile. Niall is a liked person. Behind closed doors however, his bright eyes lose their shine. His smile disappears off his face. Niall is nothing like how he is out there. He’s lost all hope. Niall thinks he was supposed to be born on another planet, in another universe. All these people have talents and special things they do, while he has nothing. He’ll always have nothing.

Harry’s life consists on being surrounded by death dates. Death dates, death dates.  Since he was fifteen, he’s been surrounded by death. He didn’t know what the numbers above peoples heads meant at first, but he caught on. He isolated himself from the world. All the happy smiles of others that hide behind the fact that their death is getting closer and closer, itching just to take it’s place and shut down the person completely. Harry hates the thought of it. It makes him sick.

The day Niall was going to end it was a day where he didn’t have his carefree smile. He didn’t give off a happy aura that made others smile. He was wearing a black zip-up sweatshirt and skinny jeans along with a black beanie. His skin seemed extra pale in the moody weather. His neighbors decided to stay away, feeling that he’s having a bad day. Little did they know, everyday was a bad day for him.

He didn’t want to do it in his own house, he contemplated just jumping off a building but that would cause too much of a scene.  He thought about getting the pistol from his drawer that he keeps just in case and using that, but it would be too messy. So he set out to buy as many pills as he could. People would’ve questioned him, but it’s Niall. Joyful and bubbly Niall. He would never do anything to hurt himself, or so they thought.

He brought the bag of pills up with him on the roof of a hotel. He could’ve did it in his own place, but the home meant too much to him. His father had built it and he didn’t want to be the one who ruined the small cozy home. Eyes had met his, and some were even concerned but he ignored them. He remembers though, one pair of green eyes that seemed so dull yet alive. A mess of curls on the pale boys head, his eyes widened when he met Niall’s eyes, and Niall thought something was on his face but he ignored the breathtaking boy and moved up the stairs.

Harry had seen it. The numbers above the boy’s head.  If  Harry knew that Niall was about to kill himself at that moment, he wouldn’t be surprised. But instead of today’s date, Niall’s death date, there was a simple: 00/00/00. Harry was surprised, confused but intrigued. He felt himself follow the boy up the stairs to the roof. He watched Niall pull the bottles out of the bag, sitting himself down and opening them. He should’ve stopped him really, but instead he watched.

Niall poured the pills into his mouth, swallowing them with a chug of water. He took the other bottle and did the same, just in case that bottle wasn’t enough. Now, he was prepared. He expected pain, some damage to his organs but instead he felt nothing. He even checked his watch, watching seconds and minutes pass. After 42 minutes, he was confused. How long is this supposed to take? He waited another half an hour and nothing had happened. He hadn’t even felt any pain, just a dull throbbing in his head.

Harry knew what it was. Niall was indestructible. He had immortality. He could live forever. Immortality is one of the most rarest kinds of powers. He’s only ever heard of few people in the world having it, Niall being one of them. He wanted to speak up, tell Niall about it. Something in his mind was telling him that this boy is special, not just for his immortality.

“You.” Harry said, making Niall jump, spinning around to face him. “Hey, it’s okay.”

“Who are you?” Niall asked, still shaken up that he hasn’t died yet.

“I’m Harry. I can tell the death dates of others.” Harry murmured the last part, but Niall heard it.

“You can’t stop me.” He replied. “I’m going to go through with it.”

“Your own body is stopping you.” Harry said. Niall was beyond confused. What was Harry talking about? It hit him then. He understood what was going on. Niall couldn’t die. He would live forever.

“No…” He whispered, covering his mouth. His blue eyes were now filled with tears. “No.. why? Why me?”

“You have the power of immortality.” Harry said.
