it's been a week since she saw ross; a week filled with midnight phone calls and surprise flowers from a certain someone, alongside endless squeals and pestering from the girls. they're all falling alongside her as she retells every sweet conversation to them minutes after they happen. it's a mystery to absolutely everyone as to how they both became so consumed with each other after a trip to the bathroom in a dirty club.
andy and oli are on her front yard, soaking up sun rays into their golden skin. the rest of the blue club is inside andrew's house, 'enjoying' the heat with a large dose of air conditioning. with a blue straw in between her lips, andrew sucks her cherry coke and believes that nothing can get better than this very second.
a car horn honks, and she sits up, squinting through her shades.
"hey, fletch. fancy seein' you today," matty shouts, grinning widely. he's in his '75 chevy convertible, and it's decided that matty is by far the coolest thing in the heat. her burning face is getting hotter than the sahara and wow is her luck simply great this summer.
"you kind of are in front of my house," she giggles back, biting her tongue. when he first asked for andrew's address, she was slightly afraid he'd pull some weird kidnapping shit. however, when the first bouquet of black-eyed susans appeared on her doorstep, all of those sketchy doubts flew from her mind.
"ya got me...if i'm not interrupting anything, would'ya mind comin' somewhere right now?" he yells seriously, raising his brows.
"right now?" she repeats in disbelief.
"this very instant."
her head whips over to oli, who is chuckling lightly.
"andy, why are you even asking? y'know this boy is the reason you had breathing problems all last semester. for months this has been your dream and its fuckin' right here. go, or else i will."
god, does she love olivia.
"i'll be right back," she calls out to the man of the hour, sliding off of her lawn chair," i'm going to put -"
"nonsense," he smirked, waving his hand. "you're fine the way you are. i promise."
she raised a brow as she looks down; andy is only clad in her hot pink bathing suit and a black robe.
"y'sure?"
"positive."
she nods, and quickly pads down the driveway to his car, her flip flops squeaking loud enough to be heard in india. she turns and can see the girls peering at them through the living room window.
"cute friends," he points out, and she rolls her eyes, embarrassed at their blatant snooping. matty is staring at her, and he can't help but wonder how andy has just entered his picture, but is already repainting it with every move she makes.
"where are you taking me right now, anyway?" andy questions, opening the door and sitting on the hot seat. the killers are quietly dripping from his stereo, and she begins humming along. his eyes scan over her face again, and matty is seriously pondering how he'd gotten through seventeen trips around the sun without her.
"i was thinkin' a classy restaurant," he slowly suggests,"i mean, clearly you're dressed for the occasion already."
"boy, get real. where?" she snorts, propping her arm on the door. andy looks as if she was born to be sitting in his car, and his insides are melting faster than a warm ice cream cone.
"you'll see when we make it there," matty states, quickly squeezing her warm hand before cranking up the volume and speeding out of the neighborhood.
this is one hell of a summer, alright.
