Frisk"You're going to be late for the bus!" my mom shouted.
I quickly put a piece of toast in my mouth and ran out the door. My mom had to wake me up because I overslept. Good thing it's only the first day of school. I took the burnt piece of bread out of my mouth and try to catch my breath. I just moved to this town a few months ago and I have to go to a new school. We moved from far away, so I'm not familiar with this area. All I know is it has a lot a forests and some waterfalls.
A school bus passing my house interrupted my thoughts. Shoot! That must be my bus! I shove the rest of the toast into my mouth and stumble down the stairs of my front porch. The bus stop is right at the end of my street. As I'm running as fast as I can, see a couple of kids stepping onto the bus. I try to yell for the bus to wait, but my voice comes out all crackly. Stupid burnt toast. The bus starts to make the turn right.
"Wait!" I scream with my hand out, right before I trip and fall on my face.
Ow. I think I scraped my knee. Late on the first day of school. What a great impression.
"You coming on little buddy?"
I look up and see the bus door opened in front of me. An older teenager with a cigarette in his mouth smiles at me strangely. He's the bus driver?
I felt so relieved that the bus was still there, I didn't really care what he looked like. I smile back, gather my fallen things, and climb on.
The bus was nearly empty and I was the last stop. I feel like I should sit alone, but some kid looks eager for me to sit down next to him. He's wear a yellow and orange striped poncho with his hood on.
"Yo!" he exclaims, "You're new, right?"
As I turn to speak to him, I see he has two black eyes. I start to speak, but he keeps talking.
"Of course your new, because I would've seen you before if you weren't. If you were wondering about my eyes, it's just 'cause I fall a lot. I can tell you everything you need to know. Man, you've missed a lot not being here and all..."
This kid keeps rambling on and on. I try to keep listening, but the bus is so bumpy and fast, I loose my focus. We're driving down the steep mountain I live on top of. No wonder why it's so fast.
As the bus becomes steady, I could concentrate on the boy's yammering.
"...she's like the most athletic person you could ever meet!"
I have no idea what he's talking about, but I nod my head encouragingly. The bus comes to a stop.
"Yo! C'mon! We're here!" the kid jumps over me and darts out the bus. A loud thud came right after. Guess he fell.
As I step out of the bus, I see hundreds of kids outside, walking and talking and laughing. The shadow of the towering school building looms over me. It fills me up with... hope? This feeling is weird. I've never felt it before.
The school yard is surrounded by yellow flowers, dancing in the autumn breeze. I bend down to pick one up. They're so pretty.
"You know your not supposed to pick those, right?"
I look up and see a boy a bit smaller than me.
"Howdy! I'm Flowey. Your new best friend!"
