The Weight

Taylor's POV

Damn I look hot. I'm wearing a black suit and my hair is done so nice. I like to take people on nice, classy dates because it's always good to make a good impression.

It's 8:00 and I have to pick up Nash by 8:30. I'm really nervous. This is my first date with a boy. I don't know how it's going to go or how I'm going to feel but I know I'm just going to relax and have fun. Nash seems like a cool, sweet guy. My phone vibrates in my pocket. It's Nash.

Nash: hey Taylor, looking forward to our date. Hope you didn't forget. (:

Me: of course not. I'm on my way rn. (:

I take one last look in the mirror to make sure I still look handsome as ever. I run to my car. Here I go.

Nash's POV

*ding ding ding ding ding ding ding*

Cameron keeps texting me. I just don't want to deal with him right now. I need to move on and go on this date with Taylor. He's really cute! Plus he just outted himself, that makes it easy for me.

*knock knock*

I get up and fix my hair a bit before answering the door. It's exciting to go out on this fancy date. All Cameron wanted to do was work out. Sure it gives him all that muscle but a guys gotta eat sometime.

I open the door to a very handsome Taylor Caniff.

"Hey Taylor. Wow you're even better than you're pictures." I laugh.

"Well thank you. You're not so bad yourself." He says blushing.

We get into his car and go to a restaurant I've never seen before. The name of it is Merlins.

"Is this place any good?" I ask.

"Yeah, you should order the chicken shrimp Alfredo. It's the best in the city." He says with a really cheesy smile.

I look down at my phone. I have over one hundred text from Cameron. He's crazy. He broke up with me and now he's saying he wants me back. I can't keep going back and forth with him.

CAMMY: where are you?? Why aren't you answering me??
CAMMY: my love please, I miss you.
CAMMY: you're on a date ... Why would you do this to me??
CAMMY: I know where you are. So Mr. Fancy can treat you better then me??
CAMMY: I LOVE YOU NASH. Please don't throw us away. I'm coming to get you before you make a mistake.

I roll my eyes and turn off my phone. Nothing is going to ruin my date night.

"Reservation for Caniff please." Taylor says. The waiter takes us to our table and hands us some menus.

"Tonight's special is a grill fried stake with mashed potatoes and the cities best mac and cheese." The waiter says and leaves the table.

   "So Taylor, tell me about yourself? Your likes and dislikes, your interests, just about you." I say softly.

   "Well as you know I'm new to this scene. I'm very nervous right now because I want it to go so well. I've had a bad experience with my first crush." He says with a slight chuckle.

   "What happened?" I say

   "He's my best friend... And he's straight ... And he somewhat has a girlfriend. He confuses me but I'm glad that I'm able to just stay friends with him." He says. "And I'm glad I scored a date with you. You're very good looking."

   "Well thank you." I say laughing a little.

   "Aha yeah. Well I'm a junior this coming year. I hope to graduate early and go to college to study literature." He says with a smile.

   "Interesting. Why literature?" I ask.

   "Something about the way authors write and how they come up with it really interests me." He says. "Enough about me, tell me about you." He says.

   "I'm a senior now, and I am looking forward to studying photography and film. Also I--" suddenly I'm interrupted by Cameron talking really loudly.

   "Have you seen him? He's here I know he is." He says.

   "Cameron?! What are you doing? I'm on a date." I yell.

   "Baby don't do this... You're my boyfriend, we belong together... You know that baby." He says softly taking my hand.

   "You broke up with me though..."I look down and say.

   "And it was the worst decision I've ever made. I need you Nash. Please don't do this to me." He says crying a bit.

    I look down at Taylor. He's awkwardly sipping his water trying to avoid any argument with us. I take Cameron's hand and make him sit down with Taylor and I.

   "Taylor I'm so sorry, this is my.. Boyfriend Cameron. Recently he broke up with me but as you can see he didn't mean it." I say looking at Cameron.

   "Hey, no problem. You guys obviously love each other.  Man I have the worst luck with guys..." He says.

   "What do you mean?" Cameron says.

   "My best friend Shawn that I told you about earlier, the guy I like, kissed me the other day. But he told me it didn't mean anything and now this with you. I don't know what to do anymore. I can't lift the weight..." He sighs.

   "Dude... He totally wants you! A guy doesn't kiss a guy for no reason! They do it because they want to!" Cameron says patting Taylor on the back.

   "Yeah he likes you. You have to do something about that." I say.

   "I don't know what to do. That's the problem. He likes girls, he's with a girl. I can't just do something about that." He says putting his head down.

   Taylor is a great guy. He just wants to be happy with Shawn. He likes him a lot, I can tell. Maybe there's a way we can help him.

   "Maybe we can help you. We can tell you how to act with Shawn and whenever Shawn gets dates with girls we can send in Cameron here to steal them from him so he won't have any dates!" I say excited.

   Taylor's POV

   Nash's plan is so bizarre but I feel like it would work. I could get close to Shawn while he doesn't go out with any girls for a while. Cameron is pretty hot so I'm sure he can get the girls easily.

   "And you're ok with that?" I ask looking at both of them.

   "Anything to help a great guy." Nash says. Cameron nods his head.

   I smile. I'm glad I came on this date. Sure it's a disappointment but hey, I met Nash and Cameron and now they're going to help me with Shawn. Maybe I can actually get him.

   "Thanks guys. This is going to be great." I say with a huge smile.
