They told us it wouldn't happen again, but it did.
We have come so far as a civilization I thought we could at least be civil with each other.
I was wrong!
We have became so used to it, and so numb.
Why is the death of others not cared for like our own.
So many lost...
A mother,
A father,
A son ,
A daughter ,
A sibling ,
A neighbor,
A friend,
A lover,
A spouse,
A coworker,
A student,
A teacher,
And so many others.
They were all innocent.
They did not deserve it.
Somebody out there though it was okay to end there lives.
Well guess what?
It wasn't!
They had there whole lives ahead of them.
Go to college,
Get a job,
Experience love,
Get married,
And so many more things they could have done.
They could have been the next president,
Or super model,
Or celebrity,
Or inventor.
They could have influenced the world, or change it for the better.
They are gone because of trivial matters like
Gender,
Sexual orientation,
Race,
Religion,
Trust me I could go on forever; do you want me to?
I guess not.
We all know this is wrong, but we as a society refuse to end it.
We have only ourselves to blame for others fearing for there lives.
But what do we do about it?
Instead of taking action we stare at a screen, completely and utterly static.
We throw a parade or party commemorating the memories of those who are lost, and in rare cases honor those lost and treasure loved ones.
Then we go back to our lives.
And I'm not going to act like this is not be because it probably is. After all I'm human.
Oh wait...
Apparently I'm not because humans have emotions and feelings and emphasize with others.
And you did not!
Did I hit to close to home?
Sorry, I'm not human; remember?
Well...
Guess what?
It could have been you if not you
Your mother,
Your father,
Your son ,
Your daughter ,
Your sibling ,
Your neighbor,
Your friend,
Your lover,
Your spouse,
Your coworker,
Your student,
Your teacher.
They were either gay or straight.
Black or white.
Muslim or Christian.
Girl or guy.
Cisgender or Transgender.
Old or young.
Or none of the above.
But it doesn't matter because you don't seem to care all that much to change it.
"I can't breathe."
"Hands up don't shoot."
These are both famous last words.
OH NO!
Breaking news:
A shooting in a Orlando gay night club.
And what do we do we wave a stupid rainbow flag!
And what does that do?
NOTHING!
And what do you do?
NOTHING!
And what do you say?
NOTHING!
And do you care?
NO!
Why should you?
Because you could be next.
