Mitch Grassi's POV

"WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?" I rose an eyebrow at Avi, Kirstie, and Kevin. "We're saying that Scott's lying," Avi said, despite the fact what he told me seemed like Scott wasn't lying. "Really? It doesn't sound like it," I muttered, flattening out my messy hair. I hadn't slept in awhile, resulting in my hair,

"It sure doesn't sound like that, but it is that. Promise! When Scott told us... Mitch, it wasn't true. He still likes you a lot—hell, he probably loves you—but let me say this: he didn't want to end it. I don't know why he did, but when he told Kevin and I that he didn't like you anymore, his words said one thing but his eyes said another. He was lying," Avi seemed to try to explain.

"I doubt that," I shook my head. "No."

"No? Mitch, please believe us," Kirstin begged. Kevin stayed silent, staring at me almost the entire time. "Mitch," he spoke for the first time. "Avi's telling the truth."

I rolled my eyes, "I'm not doubting the fact you guys were there," I said, "I'm just doubting that he was lying and that you saw 'it' in his eyes. I'm sorry, okay? He doesn't like me. He never did. He said it himself. Just stop."

"Mitchell?" Avi spoke. "Are you up for a mission?"

"A mission? What mission?" I inquired. "One to prove Scott was lying, or to prove he wasn't lying. Are you in?"

"Why not," I sighed. "Not like you two haven't done enough damage, right?"

"Right!" Kevin grinned, and then the three started pulling me toward the front door even though I looked terrible.

Fortunately, Avi, Kirstie, and Kevin let me change, so I didn't look as bad as before, but I still had no intention of wanting to go in the first place. I knew what Scott meant and I had no idea why they were so persistent in letting me know he was lying, which I knew he wasn't.

"How do you even know where he is now?" I rose an eyebrow. "That's creepy."

"Creepy? It's not hard to find out where the Scott Hoying goes on a daily basis," Avi remarked. "Whatever you say."

It was silent for some time after that, the only noise and sound being our footsteps on the concrete of the driveway to my home. I didn't understand why they were so stuck on this, but seeing them so determined was a bit amusing so I let them nonetheless. "Where are we even going?" I asked as soon as we all got into Avi's car. Avi looked at me, a small smile on his bearded face. "Where Scott would go."

"Which is?" I asked, slightly raising my dark eyebrow. "The tree, remember? The one where he was writing something under it?"

I suddenly realized what he was talking about and I rolled my eyes, "It's all the way at your house, though. What if he isn't even there?"

"Then we find him," Kevin remarked. "It shouldn't be that hard."

Scott Hoying's POV

"I'm done," I said. "I did it. Now what do you want me to do? He's hurt. What else could you want?" I asked. "I paid for it, too. Can't you two leave me alone now?"

"I can," he said. "But I don't know if he will. Go ask for yourself, why don't you," James played with the hem of his shirt, staring at me and gesturing toward the dark door which held the man that got me into this.
