Frigid

We looked around, desperate to find some sort of material to keep us warm in the bitter cold tonight. We eventually pulled together what we found, a few measly bits of wood and a dusty sheet. The four of us attempted to build a bed and fireplace, but decided to just leave our poor resources as it was. We snuggled under the thin sheet, trying to gather some body heat to keep at least mildly toasty. We eventually drifted off to a much needed sleep, praying for a more decent day ahead of us.

The four of us woke up to a blazing sun and a scalding breeze. I got up to break four miniscule chunks off the loaf of bread and took a nibble of my portion. I took a drop of water from the canteen and placed it on my tongue. How was this miniscule amount of food going to nourish me completely, let alone last my entire life? The idea seemed preposterous. Shielding my eyes, I looked out to the plain, dry desert landscape, wondering if I could survive for more than a week. I staggered around the hut and rocks, desperate to find something that would give me hope. I heard a faint trickling sound. I put my ear to the rock's burning surface, and could hear it loudly. I struck the rock, and all of a sudden, and gush of clear, cool water came streaming past me, moistening the rock solid ground that had been barren and dry for many years. I rushed back to the shelter and gently woke the three slumbering girls. They trudged outside, towards my direction and saw the spectacular sight of the flowing stream of pure, cool H2O. They stared in awe..
