Boundaries

Now that I remember it, Dongwan never mentioned to Hyesung that he can see me. It was like he knew exactly what I was from the very start. He acted like an idiot in front of his best friend every time he will be caught staring at me. Dongwan will always make it as an excuse that he is just spacing out while in real life, he is trying to figure out the boundaries that we have for each other. I never utter a word towards him to prevent us from having any connection after our disastrous encounter.

Hyesung was walking in their college school's old building that time with his wingman while I was on my feet, following them close behind. I already saw the fallen sign that warns everyone for the repairs being done for the said structure.

It was that moment that we all didn't expect; a part of the debris from the top of the building fell from nowhere. I didn't think twice and proceeded by instinct to push Hyesung off its track, I didn't care whether I end up touching him or not as long as I can keep him safe but before I can even do that – his beloved friend covered him.

My hands ended up on Dongwan's warm back. They were both pushed out of the danger's perimeter. Dongwan clearly felt my hands and looked back as soon as he managed to stand up. He stared at me with a very surprised expression but coped to conceal it right away when he heard his friend exclaimed with worries. I stood there unmoving with fright while he made me aware that he is conscious of my existence.
