They laughed and made fun of.
I never cried.
I also laughed. But for a different reason.
When they saw me with him, they said,
"Gay boy finally got a girlfriend!"
But I smiled.
I knew.
They were wrong.
By a million.
A billion.
A trillion.
A gazillion.
Because really, I had not gained a mate.
Relationship partner.
What I had gained was something not as painful as relationships.
Far beyond it.
Far more wonderful and lovely.
I laughed at those who laughed because I knew they were putrid.
For the thing that I had gained was a friend.
