You see him on the counter. You turn away, and he's gone. You find him on the couch, near the Christmas tree, in the shower. He's dominating your thoughts, destroying your sanity. He's the Elf on the Shelf.
The Elf used to be a child named Edgar Jonhson. He lived in the UK with his parents until one Christmas night, he was found murdered in his bed. Above his bed, they found a stuffed doll that looked exactly like Edgar. Some say it was Edgar's soul. The doll would show up everywhere, even when no one moved it. When Martha and Paul Johnson died, an entrepreneur named James Shelf found the doll. He built a corporation and called it Elf on the Shelf. He made hundreds of the dolls, all made like Edgar's. They all appeared to move around.
