Mind Reader

Chapter 2

Throughout the years mom has answered many of my questions. But one still remained, "Where our powers came from?"
As mom and I moved through the years keeping our powers hidden, she fell in love. Three words for you, Charlie & puppy love. Yup, mom found herself a prince, translation he's loaded. Im talking about, Hotels all over the world and the most luxurious resorts you could possibly imagine. But where, you may ask, dose Charlie live? Virginia, so mom and me had to move half way across the world from Africa, where we helped those in need even when they didn't speak to us. Mind reading can be very helpful in those parts of the world.

Right now mom and I are on our way to Charlie's mansion! Along with Charlie, came his bratty 13 year old son, Landon, who is, by the way, in his pranking phase. Let's just say Jello is not hard to get out of hair but gum is.

"So honey are you excited to go to a new school?" Mom asks excitedly
Yes, anything is better than being home schooled by your mom. I thought.
"Hey! I tried the best I could back in Africa. As you were learning so was I."

"You promised you stopped reading my mind."

When we were moving mom promised that every time we moved she'd teach me a new thing about my powers. Although it wasn't often, they still came in handy when I needed them. One time she told me that you could stop listening to people thoughts if you concentrated, and apparently I can't. Another time she told me you could keep other mind readers from reading your mind, but I'm haven't learned that one yet. But its not like we come across mind readers on a daily basis anyway.

"I know sweetheart, Im sorry I was using it on the job today and it was a tough case. You know it takes me a while to reconcentrate." she said. Moms a judge. You can't imagine the number of times she found someone lying in her court room.

"And no I'm not excited, moving to a new place junior year," I said getting annoyed of her antics to try and make this move any better.
"Why not? You get to be the new girl, everyone wants to be friends with the new girl."
No one wants to be friends with the freaky weirdo with mind reading powers.
"Your not a freak, Okay? Were special how many times I have to say that," she said setting me straight.
"I never said I was a freak, you did that on your own; and how many times do I have to say.
Stay out of my mind,
I thought, as I got out the car and went into the house. Correction Mansion, I was greeted by Charlie in the kitchen.
"Hey Kitty Kat, the principle called, he said that you will be showed around the school by one of you classmates tomorrow."

I hope she likes it here, he thought.

I had heard enough about school and didn't even want to acknowledge the name he called me. I ignored him and his thoughts and ran up the many stairs that led to my new room and clasped on my bed. The comforter was the one thing I still had left of him.

"Don't worry I'll be back I promise."

"But where are you going," my young self said in tears."
"In time you'll understand, but now I have to go. Good bye Kitty Kat," he said.

I didn't feel like getting dinner or seeing my new blended family. I felt like little orphan Annie, from rags to riches in this big house. And with that I put my earphones in and Concentrated on blocking the minds.

Will Kat ever except the move, or her new life "from rags to riches?"

Will she learn to concentrate better when she goes to school?

Who is the guy that left her when she was young?

I really hope you guys like this story. Im still new to wattpad but Im pretty sure this is a unique story. I also hope you guys are liking the quotes at the top.
