Almost every Saturday since we moved, Bailey, Sydney, and I have a sisters day. Sometimes we go shopping and have lunch or we can just stay at home and watch movie marathons. We pretty much do anything we feel like as long we are hanging out. With Bailey always on set, Sydney always out saving animals from cruelty as an animal cop, or me pulling crazy hours at the office-- it can be hard for us to get away from life. So when we do hang out, there is never a dull moment. It's like a competition for who can talk the loudest to get their stories told first.
Today, we actually plan on going out for drinks after dinner. We haven't done that since Sydney first turned twenty one. Bailey's not much of drinker.
Sydney is supposed to be by early and help me pick out what I'm supposed to wear since I'm fashion impaired. She'll be here around noon and Bailey will be on set till at least four leaving me to fend for myself for the next couple of hours. I could go back to sleep, but sleeping in to ten was good enough for me. Bailey and me are barely home enough to dirty the apartment. We order take out most nights so all that's in the sink is a few cups and some silverware. I run a few loads of my scrubs and turn on the tv.
I get bored quickly and call up my best guy friend Billy. "Hey, Bil, how's it going?"
"Hey, babe, it's a going. Another crazy day at the hospital. We need more nurses around here. Not. There are way too many to get anything done. Everything is getting jumbled up going from one nurse to the next instead of one nurse to its intended destination."
I smile and settle down onto the couch while I listen to him moan and groan about his job. I pick up one of the pillows and twist the tassels in my fingers.
"Anyway, sorry for the rant. How are things over at Ark?" I hear bustling in background.
"Oh, same old same old. We had a uncharacteristically slow day yesterday. It was relaxing for the most part." Until Alex had to show up when I was covering for T. "Tonight, Syd, Bay, and I are headed out for dinner. Wanna maybe meet us for drinks?"
"I would love to but no cigar. I have a date tonight." I can hear the smile in his voice.
I smirk and ask, "Who with? Josh? Or maybe Tyler?"
"None of the above. It's this guy I met at Spectrum the other day. His name is Malcolm. And he's super hot. H-A-W-T! Hottie!" He hollers.
Laughing I ask, "So, he's hot? Is that all?"
"So far yes. That and charming. Hence the date." He says as someone knocks on my door.
I get up and look through the peephole. It's Sydney. She already looks ready for the night. She has her red hair pulled to one side and curled. She has on her favorite pink floral dress with a light brown leather jacket and a pair of matching ankle boots. I open the door and let her in. "Say hi to Bil." I say handing her the phone.
They talk about random things while I change out the laundry. When I come back, my phone is off. "Billy said he had to go. But he loves you and will talk to you later about Malcolm. Which is?"
"New man in his life. One of these days he's going to kiss the right frog and settle down with his prince." I say while sorting my scrubs.
"What is this?" She makes a disgusted face as she points to a pair of my favorite scrubs.
"It's my new Star Trek scrubs! Aren't they cute?" I smile and model them over my clothes.
"No." She says deadpan. "You're still such a nerd. You're an adult now, Brit."
"So? Nerd life is forever. You should know. I called the house the other night and Dylan said you were held up in y'alls room playing the latest Skyrim." I smirk at her.
