"There are people out there that tell you you can't. What you gotta do is turn around and say 'watch me!'"
----POV Change----
As the last bell of the day rang, a white haired girl slowly packed her things into her red backpack and slung it onto her left shoulder, shifting it so it was comfortable on her. As she stood, she let out a puff of breath from her mouth to move the strand of hair blocking her view out of her way. She removed her large black-framed glasses from her pale face and placed it in her bag. She could see, her vision just went blurry some of the time; guess she'd had too many hits to the head.
The girl said goodbye to her English professor, Ms. Fox. She then walked out of the dull brick college building into the bright, mid day sunlight.
She ran her long pale fingers through her slightly wavy hair as she walked out the door. She'd traded her glasses for sunglasses. Her silver eyes scanned the large parking lot, looking for her older brother; Davonta. A voice broke her from her thoughts and Jade flinched. It sounded like she was pumped with helium when she was born.
"Jade! Get your skinny ass over here now. You're staying at my house tonight. No arguing about it."
Jade turned to where the high-pitched voice came from to see her friend Brittany. Now she used the term 'friend' lightly. She was cool and everything, just a bit much at times.
Jade was sure Brittany was using her to get to her brother, even if she already had a boyfriend who was completely devoted to her and her every need. He deserved better.
Jade frowned "Sorry Britt, maybe another time. I have to go home, I got a call earlier, it's an emergency." Mom will kill me if I'm late again.
"Unless it's a fashion emergency then who cares?" the dirty blonde haired girl scoffed. Her light green eyes held a look Jade didn't like, as though they said go ahead and defy me, I can ruin you with the bat of my eyelashes. Like she didn't have enough problems already.
Jade bit her pale white lips. She scanned the lot once more, hoping that her older brother would suddenly appear to save her.
You depend on him too much, it's pathetic a voice in her head said snidely. You know she'll destroy you if you don't do as she says. And I don't think you want to be avoided like the plague.
----(Time Skip)----
Jade didn't know when she got there, but one minute she was at school, waiting for Davonta. The next, she was sitting on Brittany's white couch with a group of people around them. They were all laughing at a joke that had been said. Everyone had a solo cup in their hand; a few of them were already drunk after only two drinks.
How did I get here? Wasn't I just at school? Why can't I remember anything? Jade pondered, a confused look crossed her face. I need to leave, I can't get drunk on a Thursday night I have school tomorrow! -
"Jade? You alright? You were smiling and laughing a few seconds ago. Now you look all depressed and like you're trying to solve the meaning of life"
Jade snapped out of her thoughts and turned to the girl who'd spoken. She had light pink hair that was parted to the side; it also had white highlights mixed in. Her blue eyes held curiosity. The pink haired girls skin was pale, but held a bit of color to it. She wore a dark red tank top and dark blue short shorts with grey converse.
God my head is killing me. "Sorry Blair, I'm just tired, I should probably be going home..." she trailed off when she saw the look in Brittany's eyes.
