The hole in the wall that was once filled with food, was all gone. I took one last bite out of that red apple. After so long, I would have to go out and buy more food. Like a squirrel out of the tree and into the snow for one last acorn to last through the rest of the cold winter.
I looked at the frosted mirror, a dishevelled corpse looked back. I gingerly reached for my coat and shoes. I, grabbed the last of my savings and left the nest.
When I tried to pull open the door, it didn't budge. The lock was rusted and so was the handle. I lifted my whimpering leg and delivered a sharp blow to the slab of wood. I left.
The snow fell from the sky so gently. The moonlight fragments hit the water so beautifully. The grey sky tinged with purple. I missed all this? I took my first few steps outside. I couldn't control my wavering legs.
'They haven't been used for a while, I guess.' I say to comfort myself.
I walk for a few minutes, caution in every step. Slowly more and more my legs faltered. I knew I couldn't arrive at the shops in this state. It just would take to much out of me.
I sat down by the river. The snow covered the earth like a mother tucking in her child. The smell of the cold snow. I had never felt like this before.
'Why did I hide away for so long?' I questioned.
I lay in the snow. The cold seeping through my pyjamas.
Crunch! I heard the footsteps of a person behind me, I turn sharply to see. A woman. She must have been forty to fifty years old. Her long black hair cascaded down her shoulders like poisoned waterfall.
I ran like a wolf from the hunter. She scared me. I just couldn't stay. The energy needed for a ten metre sprint, tired me out. I lay on the ground. The floating snowflakes turned to shining lights in my blurred vision. I closed my eyes. Where I went next I will never know.
A black abyss. The complete darkness. I saw a dark shade of red become lighter and lighter. I reached to touch my arm, but nothing. This must have been a dream.
Flames from every direction hit me. It was hell on earth, or where ever this place was. That was when he came.
The man in the black trenchcoat, the grey fedora and red eyes. He stared for a while with a menacing grin.
'Hello Kiri, I can be whatever you want, your prisoner, your slave, your friend...
