Alejandro woke up, the sun glinting in his eyes. He squinted, sitting up, his tan skin bursted with blisters, and gashes. What happened? He thought for a second before remembering what happened to his sister. Tears began to fill in his eyes, sorrow washing over him. Why? Why is the world so cruel! He balled his hand into a fist and growled, punching the wall of a tree, feeling trapped beneath its tangled branches. He flinched as a cold fragile hand laid on his shoulder. He turned around quickly to see his father, with clear tears running down his face. "I am sorry Alejandro..." His voice came into a murmur as he spoke, and it cracked. Before he could say anything else a loud crackling sound came from a near by tree, leaving Alejandro in its path. He scampered up to his feet, to fall back down noticing his broken ankle. His eyes widened in fear as the tree began to fall as if in slow motion. He crossed his arms over his chest, then held them over his head and kept them there till he had noticed it had not fallen on top of him, he was alive, not crushed. He looked up to see a dark shadowy figure holding up he tree, dark black-gray feathery wings flustered out on either side. It pushed the tree aside. It's large wings pushed him aside, then disappeared as it went back to where ever it came from. I am glad it saved me though. He said with a sigh.
