Chapter 14: The Move

Ryan and I had started packing an hour ago, and we hadn’t even packed one room since we had gotten distracted by basically everything. You don’t realize how much stuff you have until you move…. Anyway Ryan was packing the kitchen up while I packed up the room I stayed in. Oh, I almost forgot! We had decided it was best to move to Hawaii, wince my dad had always thought I hated Hawaii because of…what happened…I shuddered at the remembrance of what happened. I folded up my blanket with small pink flowers all over it from when I was a baby and my mom was still around… I held back tears and I put the blanket in a large box labeled ‘Ari’s Stuff’.  I was almost finished packing, I just had the stuff from the dresser. Since we didn’t want to spend money, we decided to take everything, and when I say everything I mean EVERYTHING. We only wanted to make one trip so Ryan rented the largest moving tank to attach to his car to fit everything. But we had to disassemble everything to fit it all.

I finished packing the last box and went to the kitchen. It was totally empty with the exception  of Ryan and a box he was holding. We got into the car and began the long trek to the sea. We loaded his car and the tank onto the ship so it would meet us right when we got to Hawaii. After we left our things, we got a taxi to bring us to the airport. It was an 11 hour flight, which I wasn’t looking forward to. But if it got me away from my dad, I was willing to take the torture. We arrived and paid the taxi driver before he sped away. I held a small rolling suitcase as my carry-on with my small dark purple purse. We got drinks from a coffee shop in the airport and waited for a half an hour until our plane was here. We boarded and headed for Hawaii.

After many torturous hours, we finally landed. I slept for about four hours, thought about Shealie and Niall for about two, and just sat looking out the window uncomfortably for the rest of the time. I stood up when the flight attendant said we could and stretched, my entire body aching from sitting for too long. I grabbed my purse and gripped onto my suitcase. We got off and the airport was much too beautiful for an airport. It had flowers and butterflies on the white walls and white floors that made you wince from the brightness the first time you see them.

Ryan led me out the doors and we called a car. None came, and since the sea port where we were meeting the luggage was only 15 minutes by car we decided to walk. I was glad, because I don’t think I could sit again for a week. We walked in peaceful silence for a long time, until Ryan started talking.

“So, what’s up with you and Niall,” he asked, looking at me with his blue eyes.

I winced as he said ‘Niall’. I had stopped thinking about him for a few hours. But Ryan just brought him right back to my mind.

“I…don’t really know…” I admitted, shrugging slightly.

“So…you aren’t….dating?” he questioned.

I looked at him, annoyance in my eyes. I knew he saw it, because he looked away and sighed. We were silent for the rest of the time, but unlike before, it was a stiff silence that only broke when we heard a very loud horn that told us a boat was coming into the dock. Our boat. The one with OUR luggage. I practically jumped for joy when I saw it. It was docked on the beach. The sand on the beach was bleach white and the waters were clear bluish green. I took off my sneakers and socks and ran into the sand. It was warm, and I felt happiness bubble up in me. Ryan caught up with me and grabbed my hand. We walked to the dock, still holding hands. I loved Niall, and I think he knew that. But it wasn’t a girlfriend boyfriend hand holding. It was just friendly.

We finally got out car and luggage tank into the street and went to a beautiful house right on the beach. It was a creamy pink and the roof was a combination of bamboo and wood. It looked like a house from Florida. It was balanced on stilts to make sure if any water came up from the beach it wouldn’t flood the house. One side was completely glass; the side facing the ocean. I could see a chimney, and I’m not really sure why we would need one….Ryan parked the car and we both got out. He handed me the keys and I went into the house to check it out and plan where everything goes while he unpacked.

After a lot of work and a few days, we were finally unpacked.  We had painted my room a pale pink that looked like the pink of a shell. I had fake starfish decorations in my room and a large bed with the bedspread patterned with big shells and a pale blue background. I had a white vanity table by my window, or I should say wall. One entire wall was a window, showing off the ocean view. Ryan had bought me curtains, just to be safe. I had bamboo flooring with a small sham rug near my bed. I had a large bathroom leading from my room, and it was decorated the same way as my room.

Our kitchen had bamboo walls and shiny concrete flooring. There was a counter where we put two bamboo high chairs to sit on while we ate. We had a large TV in the living room and a small loveseat couch with shell pillows decorating it a little. All in all, our entire house was decorated with a beachy scene and bamboo walls or flooring.

I sat on my bed, on my phone. Of course. My phone was never not in my hand. I needed to keep up with the whole YouTube situation. Every day it got at least 1,000 more views and hundreds of comments. I couldn’t decide if I loved it or hated it.

“Ari, dinner,” called Ryan, and I went to the kitchen, leaving my phone on the bed. Yes, I did leave it… I got to the kitchen and saw that Ryan had made spaghetti and meatballs in fake coconut bowls. We ate on the loveseat couch and watched TV. Ryan and I had become very good friends, but definitely not in love. At least, not me.  We watched a different movie every night, and tonight we decided to watch now you see me. (Authors note: I watched it and it was awesome!!) I looked at Dave Franco, instantly falling in love with him. He had beautiful brown hair and gorgeous eyes. Any girl who saw him would fall in love. I’m sure of it. When it was over, I was sad because I just wanted it to go on and on forever. But movies end, just like your life…(Authors note: wow that was super creepy idek why I wrote that it just sorta came out) I got up and washed my dishes.

I went to my room and closed the curtains, leaving the beautiful scene of the white sand and crashing waves. It slowly disappeared, and I changed into a pair of short shorts and a tank top. What? Its Hawaii and its really hot. Don’t judge. I brushed my hair and teeth and went to bed.
