I stared out at the fog that covered the grass from the car window.

"This is our shot at a new beginning."

I can still hear my mother's voice in my head. I wasn't ready for a new beginning. I liked my old house and my old school. I never got the chance to say goodbye to all my friends. I guess that's what happens when your parents get divorced.

The car took a sharp turn into a driveway. The boxes in the back seat shifted, falling on top of each other.

"Sorry, love." My mother apologized to me. "Almost missed the house." I nodded and turned away to examine the house. It was made of bricks. It wasn't too big or too small. It seemed like the perfect house for my mother and I. I refused to let her see that, though. I was still mad that she just pulled me from our old lives. "Isn't it wonderful, Hayley?" My mother's voice echoed through the car. I rolled my eyes and turned my music up louder. My mother looked back at me with a disapproving look. She pulled my headphones from my ears. "Sweetie, I know you're mad now, but I really think you will enjoy it here in Doncaster." I sighed. "Whatever, Mum. I just want to unpack and take a shower or something."
