Chapter One - Ai Chika, Tain-sama!

Lindo Tachibana; a red haired, blue eyed male, walked alongside his cousin, Ritsuka Tachibana. Ritsuka was a light brown haired girl, with golden eyes. For the longest of time Ritsuka had thought that Lindo was her brother. But after the whole Grimuar thing, she learned the truth. She didn't mind, she still called him and thought of him as her big brother.

The two walked side-by-side, groceries in hand. Well, Lindo had insisted on carrying them all, so Ritsuka held her bag. Lindo stopped suddenly, and Ritsuka looked up from her shoes, which she had been looking down at, and up at the male. He was staring at something ahead of them, she looked in the direction and found a man in a white cloak, which she recognized belonged to the Exorcists. Lindo had once worked with them, but after they had tried to kill Ritsuka, he left and never even thought of going near their base. "What do you want?" Lindo asked in a calm tone, which surprised the female beside him. She was sure that he hated them now.

"Our leader wishes to speak with you," the male informed, and Lindo looked over to Ritsuka. "I'll take these home, then come to meet with him."

The male in the cloak gave a nod, then walked off.

Lindo walked into the large room that he was much too familiar with. In front of him was the leader of the Exorcists, sitting in his usual place on a throne-like chair. Next to him was a girl with long black hair and eyes that reminded the male of rubies. She looked to be his age, but dressed younger. He had never seen her before. Was she new? He didn't think so. If she was standing next to him the way she was, she definitely wasn't new. She stood straight, hands folded in front of her, with a face that was much too serious. She took a step forward, then turned to the old man next to her. "May I talk to him privately?" she asked, and the man gave a hesitant nod. "You know what you can and can't say," he reminded her before she turned without another word, walking toward Lindo.

"So, you want to talk in the hall?" Lindo asked, about to turn towards the door. "That won't be necessary," the girl said with a small smile playing at her lips, stopping in front of the red haired male. She let her hands lift so they were folded on her chest, closing her eyes, then mumbled some words that were inaudible to Lindo. A wall of golden light surrounded the two, and she opened her eyes again, letting her hands fall to her sides. "I am Ai Chika, but you may only call me by the name 'Tain-sama', is that clear?" the girl now known as Ai looked at Lindo with the same serious expression that she had when she was standing next to the leader. Lindo gave a nod, "Yes, Tain-sama, I am L-," the girl interrupter him, "Lindo, I know. Right now they can see us, but can not hear us. I can not hold this barrier up for long. They are going to force you to join them once again, and I know you don't want that. I will help you escape, if I can come with you," the girl said everything in a rush, and Lindo gave a nod, "Alright, deal. But, if you can escape, why haven't you already?" he asked.

"No time, I will explain everything later. Keep a conversation with that old man, alright?" and with that, the wall vanished and she gave out a long breath, as if she had been holding it in, clutching at her chest. Lindo turned to the leader, "So, how has everything been here at base?" he asked. The male in front of him gave a chuckle. "It's been hard here without you, Lindo. Which brings me to why-," Lindo interrupted him, not wanting him to say what he knew he was going to say. "How long has this girl been here? She knows some spells that even I don't know. I never saw her around," Lindo glanced at the girl, who was looking better, but still held a hand over her heart, gripping the fabric of her dress tightly. "She has been here for a long time, ever since she was very young," the older male noted. Lindo gave a nod of understanding.

"Ever since I was of the age of a few days, am I correct, father?" Ai asked, a small smile again playing at her lips. "F-father?" Lindo looked from the male to the female, not seeing any resemblance between the two. "Yes, I raised her, so she calls me father," the man informed with a chuckle, amused by the younger male's reaction. "I see," Lindo breathed out, somehow relieved that they were not actually related. "Lindo Tachibana, I brought you here to first ask you, will you join us once again?" the older male asked the younger. "I will not take no for an answer."

"Then why even ask, father?" Ai asked, taking a step forward, so she was in front of Lindo. She raised her hands up, then mumbled a chant before a large, golden pentagram appeared before her and wind made it's way toward the Exorcist leader, and his followers. "Run," Ai yelled to Lindo, "I'll catch up. Down that hallway," she pointed with her free hand to a hallway. Lindo did as he was told, and soon he looked back to see Ai right behind him. Following her were the Exorcists, and he looked forward to see more of them coming. "We're trapped," Lindo breathed, but Ai threw open a window, grabbing his hand, and jumping out of it. They were in one of the towers of the base, so there was a great distance between them and the ground. "This might hurt a little," Ai yelled to him, as she reached her free hand forward and screamed the chant, "Winds from the heavens, protect us!"

Lindo felt a pain pass threw him, and he knew it was because of his Vampire DNA. The two safely landed, and Ai fell to her knees, gripping at her heart, breathing heavily. "That takes a lot outta you?" Lindo asked, pulling her to her feet. The girl gave a nod, taking her hand away from his and using it to brush some of her black bangs out of her face. "We aren't out of the clear yet, we have to run," Ai told Lindo before taking his hand once again and making a run for the front gates.

They ran for some time, the cold winter air nipping at their exposed skin. They ran, even after they could no longer see or hear the Exorcists. Once they finally stopped, they both collapsed, breathing heavily, each breath visible in the frosty air. "So, why hadn't you escaped before?" Lindo breathed out, looking over to the girl. "I had before," she informed between pants for breath, "I just always got caught because I never had anywhere to stay." Wait... No where to stay... So... "You want to stay with me?!" he asked out loud, and the girl gave a nod, looking up at him with hopeful red eyes. Lindo cleared his throat, "So, why are your eyes that color?" He looked away as he asked the question, but after she was quiet for some time, he looked back at her to see her staring down at her lap. "Well, I'm what is called a 'Dhampir', a half-," Lindo's eyes widened, "half human, half vampire," he mumbled the rest for her, and she looked up at him. "Yes, that is correct," she pouted, "I'd understand if you don't want me to stay with you-," the girl once again was interrupted by the male, but this time not by words, but him pulling her into a hug. The girl's eyes began to water as she pushed him away, even though she enjoyed the warmth his body to hers brought. "W-what did you just...?"

"You don't know what a hug is?" Lindo asked in surprise. "W-well, I just never really experienced one," Ai huffed, looking away from the male. "I see... If you are a dhamphir, raised by Exorcists, I can see that," Lindo thought out loud, "anyways, I'm a dhamphir too. But my eyes aren't always red," he informed her. "W-well... I'm a bit different-," this time, she stopped herself. "You.... You're a dhamphir too?"

Lindo gave a nod, "That's what I said-," this time, Lindo was the one being cut short. "This is great!" Ai cheered, standing up. Lindo gave a chuckle before standing up as well. "I'll lead the way. My aunt and cousin live there too, so be nice," he teased. Ai gave an enthusiastic nod, following Lindo as he began walking toward his house, which he shared with Ritsuka and Maria Tachibana.

"Hope we have an extra room," Lindo mumbled to himself.
