Step up to the challenge, believe in yourself, and do what it takes. Right now is a great time to start.
- Anonymous#1: Threats and Dreams
I was a whole ten minutes late.
How could you be so careless Grace?! I internally chastised myself. I could become so oblivious to the things around me sometimes, it was not even funny.
I was supposed to meet my brother, Ben, at the parking lot exactly forty five minutes after school ended.
Ben was a member of the chess club which was holding a bunch of practice session before a tournament they had coming up soon. So we'd often have to stay behind together since I was his ride.
Stuffing my loose papers into my bag, I rushed through the library doors and down the corridor towards one of the fire exits so I could get out as quickly as possible.
Without a single doubt, I knew my brother would be pissed. He was one of those people who had a schedule for everything. One slip up and his whole day would be ruined.
So as I haphazardly pushed open the door, my mind reeled with possible excuses.
I was talking to the werewolf? ...No, he'll ask too many questions.
I was being chased by a teacher? ...No, I would've escaped already.
Oh! I was talking to a teacher while being chased by a werewolf! ...Perfect.
Some of you probably think that that was sarcasm. Well, It wasn't. My brother is a hardcore believer of supernatural creatures, so I'm pretty sure if I used the werewolf excuse, he'd believe me.
Only problem was, he'd never believe the part where I was talking to a teacher...
Once outside, the cool air hit me making me smile instantly.
"Come on I don't have all day!" I heard a demanding voice say.
Furrowing my eyebrows, I slowed my pace down and shuffled to the edge of the wall, pressing my back against it as I peeked my head around the corner.
That's when I saw three big guys pressing a smaller one to the wall.
Ahhh, there it is. The trademark of Crafton High.
A place where bullies rule the school. Jocks and cheerleaders are like royalty and nerds like myself are seen as the their slaves. This place is like a scene out of a movie. Except, it's not just a scene, it's a broken tape on replay.
Nobody does anything to stop it because nobody wants to become the next victim. Everyone's just too scared to step up because they're afraid of becoming an outcast.
This is why I'd rather be living in a book. At least that way, I'd know it was all a story and if I wanted, I could escape at anytime and jump into another book.
The worst thing was that this wasn't normal bullying. It was like gang wars. Where the popular kids were major gangs and they were competing to see who could break the most pupils. Sometimes, kids would even go home with bruised up faces if they tried to stand up for themselves.
