DDA, if it wasn't obvious enough, was designed to give each certain group their own place and equipment.
There were groups divided by their interests, which is known as the five official departments dedicated to extra-curricular activities, an example being the well-described Sports Department. Then there were groups divided by year level.
Putting aside the other four departments for another part of the story, the different year levels did not socialize in the same buildings like other schools. Instead, they are separated into buildings where their only concerns are their batch mates. Albeit there are times where this rule was overseen in an act of educational magnanimity, that happening is quite rare.
Officially, the purpose of this was to incite peer rivalry without the possibility of comparing others with age. If, for example, a sophomore took advanced classes and excelled, then their batch mates would be branded as unable to catch up, thus, the setup of each year level keeping to their own, only mixing with other year levels when extra-curricular activities demanded it.
Unofficially and the real reason for it, was the current school's owner wanting to incite rivalry between her own children, even going as far as placing them in different departments despite the fact that they could easily pass for whichever one they wanted.
The youngest, Raphael Florence, was placed in the Arts Department.
The sophomore, Cardor Florence, was placed in the Academics Department.
The only girl, Michelle Florence, was placed in the Social Studies Department.
And the eldest, Zack Florence, was placed in the Sports Department.
Each one was given their own kingdom to rule with necessities placed for exploitation. For whatever battle they have to face sooner or later that would demand their attention.
That was why each Department and Year Level Buildings had a few key components:
Classrooms.
Changing Rooms.
Lost and Found Rooms.
And a Clinic.
Noah was thankful he didn't have to walk far to get to a medical wing. The partition was just behind each building, so it was a short trek. He was more thankful that he could stop acting tough and put Amelia down. Muscles felt heavier than fat.
The clinic sort of reminded Noah of the public shower rooms back at the dorms, only stalls were separated by curtains at the sides. It made a make-shift hallway in the middle. Unless it was occupied, the curtains remained open. At the end was the doctor's office where a desk and swivel chair was displayed. There was a curtain for private inquiries, but the doctor left it open otherwise. Instead of the shower rooms he was used to that were red and gold, the clinic was a pristine white that was maintained twice a day.
At the moment, none of the beds were occupied, and a girl sat on the doctor's swivel chair as she slept on the desk. The doctor himself stood by the glass windows, having a cup of tea.
Zack coughed for attention as Noah went to the nearest bed and placed Amelia down gently.
"Oh? Zack, I didn't expect to see you again so soon." The doctor said, placing his cup of tea on the table next to the sleeping student and walking up to them. "You promised the next time I see you would be the day I was the one hospitalized."
"I am a man of my word. Prepare to see white once this gamer boy exits the premises."
The doctor grinned. "Oh my. Guess I should be on my toes, eh?" Turning to Amelia, he asked. "What do we have here?"
