"Time to go."
Rei woke up with (Name) prodding her on the shoulder. Seeing she was awake as she blinked the drowsiness out of her eyes, (Name) moved on to Takashi, waking him in a similar manner.
Claire was already up, she still looked to be in pain, and had dark circles under her eyes. It didn't look like she slept well.
"Where will we go?" Rei asked.
"Out of here. Those zombies will break through the barrier we made within the next half hour, so we can't stay here. Not to mention that we need food and water. Claire needs pain meds too."
"I have an idea." Takashi interjected. "There should be a fire hose somewhere up here, we could use it to push all the zombies down the stairs."
"Good idea, I'll help you look for it." (Name) said, beginning to search the roof.
Rei walked over to Claire, and sat down again. She folded her hands in her lap, and tried to review the events of yesterday in her mind. "That's right... Hisashi..." Rei choked, holding back sobs as she remembered her dead boyfriend.
"Found it. Rei, will you help me set this up?" Takashi said, dragging the fire hose to the barricade they had set up to keep the zombies off the roof. Rei stood up again, and moved to help him, hooking the fire hose into a valve in the buildings wall.
(Name) started moving items out of the barricade, until a zombie's arm burst through, grabbing at anything it could find. (Name) drew his knife, and hacked the arm off. Afterwards it fell to the floor lifelessly. (Name) peeled the rest of the boards and tables away from the doorway, and then ducked out of the way as Rei and Takashi sent a blast of water down the stairs, knocking all the walking bodies on it over the railing, and towards the ground.
(Name) helped Claire to her feet, and the group slowly descended the staircase. "Do you think there are still some on the roof?" Rei whispered, worried.
"Probably." (Name) said, drawing his sidearm. They rounded a corner, and (Name) signaled for them all to crouch. He set Claire down on her rear end, her bad leg outstretched in front of her. The roof was filled with undead, shambling around mindlessly.
"Listen." (Name) whispered to them, in a commanding tone. "I'll give you all a chance to get to the door. Take Claire with you, and I'll catch up to you later. Do you see that bus over there?" he asked, pointing down into the school's Parking lot. "Gather all the survivors you can find, and bring them to that bus. We can use it to break through the gate, and get the hell out of here."
Takashi nodded, but Rei looked worried. "You'll need help, there's no way you can fight them on your own." she said.
"Takashi can't fight off zombies alone while helping a wounded soldier down several flights of stairs, and across open ground. He's the one who needs your help. Besides, I'm a marine, you shouldn't worry about me." (Name) countered, loading a new clip into his sidearm, and drawing the sword on his back with his left hand afterwards.
"Still! It doesn't matter if you're a marine or not!" Rei hissed.
Takashi touched her shoulder. "He said he'll be fine Rei, I believe him. Let's do as he says."
"Fine." Rei said.
(Name) nodded to them. "I'll see you all on the other side, good luck." He ran down the stairs, and the banging metal of his boots on the stairs caused all the corpses on the roof to lock their eyes on him. (Name) fired several shots, and multiple zombies fell over with holes in their heads.
(Name) ran into the crowd of zombies, hacking apart bodies with his sword. Realizing he was surrounded, signaled for the group to make their run towards the door.
A zombie lunged towards (Name), it's teeth gnashing. He ducked, firing multiple shots into zombies ankles, breaking the bone, and sending the zombies toppling to the floor. (Name) stood, and angled his sword to the ground, spinning to decapitate all the corpses he'd crippled.
A zombie plowed into (Name)'s side, biting into his left forearm. (Name) screamed in pain, and shot the zombie in the forehead with his pistol. Another corpse knocked into him, and (Name) fell backwards, laying on the side of the building. He kicked the descending zombie away from him, but the force of the kick caused him (Name) to topple over the side of the building. He fell, and landed on his back on top of a car in the parking lot. The metal roof caved in, setting the car alarm off.
(Name) rolled off the hood, hitting the cement. He rolled over onto his back, looking into the sky, dazed from the fall. He unstrapped his helmet, letting it roll around on the asphalt behind him. He also pulled down his black scarf, and cocked his head to the side, coughing up blood. Remembering the bite on his wrist, (Name) scrambled for his sword, which had fallen several feet from him. He took a deep breath, and swung it in a downward arc, cutting of his left arm just above the elbow. He gritted his teeth, dropping his sword and holding his bleeding arm.
"Let's see if this works..." he thought darkly. (Name) picked up his sword, and punched out the window of the car with it's hilt. He sheathed the blade, and pulled out his knife instead, reaching into the car to cut it's seatbelt out. (Name) took the seat belt and looped it around his arm. He tied it into a knot with great difficulty, and using his teeth to hold the seatbelt, he tugged to tighten it, stopping the blood flow.
(Name) took a shuddering breath, and surveyed the parking lot around him. The bus he had instructed Takashi and Rei to meet at wasn't far, but a horde of zombies stood between it and himself. In addition, they were all walking towards him. (Name) glanced at the car behind him, noting the loud hear alarm with distaste.
"Maybe they're attracted to noise..." (Name) thought.
He looked around on the ground for his pistol, and finding it, and gently picked the gun up with his right hand. At least with this weapon he only needed one arm to use effectively. But reloading would be a problem. Thinking about all the rounds he'd already fired, (Name) guessed he only had about seven rounds left.
"Great." he thought, cursing under his breath.
He crouched shuffling his way between cars quietly, trying to avoid the undead wandering towards the car alarm.
Sitting behind a small smart car, (Name) set the gun down on the ground, and tightened the silencer attached to it with his hand. Picking it up again, he peeked over the car hood, and shot a nearby zombie through the head with it, clearing a path to the bus.
(Name) continued quietly making his way towards the bus, until he heard shouting from the other side of it. The zombies turned, walking back towards the bus, and closing (Name)'s window to get to it. He broke into a sprint, picking off a few corpses who got too close for comfort.
(Name) rounded the side of the bus, holding his gun out in front of him. Multiple students, along with a slender teacher wearing a suit, we're making a break towards the bus. Takashi was behind the group, hitting zombies with a baseball bat. A rather fat, and green haired student with glasses, shot nails from a homemade device from one of the buses Windows, defending the bus from the undead swarming to it.
"Hey, how'd you get here so fast?" Rei asked, jogging up to meet (Name).
(Name) stepped out from the corner of the bus, into the light. "I took an alternate route..." he mumbled, sounding strained.
"Oh my god! What happened to your arm?!" she asked, noticing the stump. She rushed forward, and examined it, setting the wooden pole she held against the side of the bus.
(Name) gently shrugged her away, walking towards Takashi to support him in the fight. "I'll be fine, we'll worry about it later." he told her, taking aim and firing three shots into the horde.
"Takashi! Get out of there!" (Name) shouted, fending zombies off with the gun.
Takashi sprinted towards the bus, following the students he had been defending. (Name) noticed a teacher lagging behind, talking to a student crouched on the ground. (Name) froze when he saw the teacher kick the student, sprawling him onto the ground to serve as bait for the undead. The teacher calmly walked towards the bus, smiling.
(Name) took aim with his pistol, and pulled it. A click responded, with no recoil. "Out of bullets. Damn." (Name) thought, gritting his teeth as he holstered the pistol.
"Thanks for the help little guy..." the teacher said, boarding the bus before (Name) could draw his revolver. He didn't like that teacher.
"(Name), everyone's on, get in here!" Rei shouted out the window. (Name) jogged to the bus door, drawing his knife and slashing open a zombie's throat as it got close to him. Blood spilled over his face, and the zombie fell to the ground.
Rei met (Name) at the door, and helped him get into the bus, climbing the small flight of stairs. Another teacher sat in the drivers seat. A woman, with long blonde hair and gold eyes. By the white lab coat she wore, (Name) decided she was either a science teacher, or the school's nurse.
"Shizuka-Sensei, get us out of here!" Rei shouted. The teacher nodded, and the bus took off with a jolt, plowing through corpses on it's way to the gate. Rei sat down in a seat with (Name), and held him in place with one arm, holding on tightly to the seat in front of her with the other. The bus jolted back and forth, avoiding obstacles until it finally plowed through the school gate, freeing them to the open road.
The ride smoothed, and Rei sat back in her seat, relieved.

"Oh, that's right." Rei said, standing up into the buses isle. "Wait here (Name), I'll be back." she said, walking to the front of the bus. She returned a moment later, holding a first aid kit. "It's not much, but I think it will help." she said, sitting down and opening the case.
She pulled out some cleaner, and applied it to the wound. (Name) hissed, biting his lip, as he felt the wound sting. Rei applied some bandages,be wrapping them around the remainder of the arm.
"Thanks." (Name) said tiredly, looking out the window at the passing buildings. He felt a moist cloth on his cheek, and looked back to Rei. She swiped it gently across his face, removing the streak of blood plastered to his skin.
"You know," Rei said, surveying (Name)'s (e/c) eyes. "when you saved us, I guess I hadn't realized that you weren't any older than me and Takashi. How'd you become a marine?"
"Long story." (Name) said. "Let's just say I had strong motivation."
"Oh, okay." Rei said, feeling a little dejected. "Well... Thanks. For what you did for us. I don't think we would have made it out of there without your help."
(Name) leaned back into his seat, closing his eyes. "Sure. It's my job anyways..."
