Last time on TTDFL:
I made my way to the door, but I did not expect to see the person that on the other side.
Chapter Two
It was the blonde. I expected it to be anyone but I never even gave this chick a second thought. I mean, the first time I even saw her around here was earlier today.
"Hey, just to make sure, you're Natsu Dragneel, right?" She spoke in an angelic tone. Wait, not that I'm saying she should but, she doesn't know who I am? I'm basically the most popular guy in school and she doesn't even know what I look like.
"Um yeah, that's me."
She took out a piece of paper out of her back pocket and unfolded it. She showed it to me.
"Sorry but I couldn't help reading it. I'm so sorry."
I sighed. I knew what she meant. She wasn't talking about reading it, oh no. This was pity. But then I looked up at her eyes. Sure, there was empathy but there was something else. Something that seemed like understanding. How could she possibly understand? It's not like she was gonna die too. Well, I didn't know that, I'd only just met her.
"Oh it's fine. How else were you gonna give it back to me? But I do have a favor to ask you," I said with urgency in my voice.
She handed me the paper and looked at me, a question in her eyes.
"Look......." I couldn't really address her if I didn't know her name.
"Lucy." She put her hand out for me to shake. I did.
"Well Lucy, I don't want anyone finding out about this. I will pay you however much I can but I don't make a lot of money. I have an allowance but even that is like ten bucks a week."
She gigled. I don't know why, but I found it to be the cutest giggle I've ever heard. And I spend a lot of time around girls, believe you me.
"Dude, I don't want your money. I have enough of it as it is."
Eyebrow raise and a head tilt from my part.
"Oh, right! I didn't tell you who I am."
"Umm yeah you did. You're Lucy."
She giggled again. I swear, it's music to my ears.
"Thank you for that. And it's not just Lucy. I'm Lucy Heartfilia."
Realization sunk into me like I sink my teeth into a burger. Holy crap in a hat! I'm standing right infront of The Lucy Heartfilia! The sole heiress of the Heartfilia fortune. Well no duh she doesn't want my money. She has piles and piles of her own! How did I never notice she went to our school? Have I been living in my own little world this whole time?
Gaping, I ask her, "Why are you telling me this? You're like super rich and for all you know, I could be a serial killer out to get your money."
She smirked. "I like to believe in people." She tried to give off a menacing glare but it only served to make her seem cute. Well, cuter than she already was. "Besides, what are the chances that we're both serial killers?" I just had to laugh at that.
Although very pretty, something seemed off about her. She always just stared centimeters away from my face. She never looked straight at me. Like if her sight was off. I don't know what came over me enough to do this, but I grabbed her face with my hands and moved her face so she could be staring at me.
I was expecting a reaction out of her. Some girls would reach up to touch my hand and others would stare at me like I'm the best thing on earth and some just plain out freaked out.
