[ Reese's POV ]

The cafe that the Hale twins occupied was almost empty. There was nobody enjoying pastries on a Thursday afternoon except for the two blonds. Which was fortunate for them since neither boy felt like they were in the mood to have fingers pointed at them and obvious whispers spread around about the
off-duty superheroes. The cafe was well located and on full days usually only had college students come in. Flynn and Reese sat in front of one another right beside a brightly lit window.

Reese sleepily stared out the window, his blue eyes were unfocused as students walked in and out of their way from their college classes. It had been a week since the Juliet fiasco and he decided to drop it until it came back up. He had more important things to do than track her down. Maybe she didn't want to be found. But it's just that that made Reese realize how sketchy it was. What was she hiding? Or what was she hiding from?

Reese brought his cup of coffee to his lips, hoping to wake him up a little, as Flynn put his hands on his lap. Strangely, the latter twin looked nervous, a rare sight.

"You alright, Flynn? You have that same look on your face as that one time you confessed to Mom that you crashed your car to avoid that squirrel on the road," Reese asked his fraternal twin behind his cup of coffee.

"Yeah, yeah," Flynn was rubbing his hands on his jeans. "Look, dude, I gotta tell you something."

"You crashed another car?" Reese sounded concerned.

"No," Flynn paused and took a breath. "I'm going to ask Amelie to marry me."

Reese choked on his coffee and set his cup down so he can wrap his mind around what his brother had just told him. After a mild coughing fit, Reese croaked, "Wait, what?"

"Look, Ben and Madi are engaged and they're young, too. We all knew that Amelie and I were going to get married eventually, so might as well do it now. It's just that I've been overhearing a lot of things from Mr. Chiron about how more and more people have started working for Eros now. And when Kaden went missing it made me realize that we don't have forever to do all the things we want to do. Especially with our jobs. Besides, we make a pretty decent living, I'm gonna buy the ring soon but I just wanted your advice first."

Reese thought what he said over. It's true, Amelie and Flynn had been together for a long time and there was nobody for each of them besides one another. Reese thought about Tessa and Kaden and how nobody knew where the poor boy was and how Tessa was driving herself insane trying to find him. It seemed like most of the people he knew were in serious relationships. The clock was ticking for the metahumans.

"And you're okay with the fact that you're, like, twenty one years old?" Reese asked Flynn.

   "Totally."

"Alright, man, well I'm happy for you," Reese smiled.

"Yeah? No talk about being responsible and serious?" Flynn looked over the moon happy. He was going to marry the love of his life.

"Nope. Unless you want me to give you one, because in that case; Flynn, my boy, with marriage comes a lot of responsibility. There's taxes and laundry and-" Reese wasn't usually one to joke around. He was rather serious but he was truly happy for his brother. Flynn had a very easy going and calm aura about him that always loosened Reese up. Besides, it was just like Reese to make a joke about taxes.

"Yeah, yeah, I got it," Flynn laughed loudly. "Anyway," he lowered his voice, "I think I'm going to do it at that gala thing. The one at that museum with what's-his-face."
