District One, the luxury district of Panem, was getting ready for this year's reaping. People were rushing about, some excited for the reaping and others indifferent. It was very rare in District One to find people frightened of the Games, which was likely because there was always someone who wanted to be in the Games who was ready to volunteer.

When all the children aged twelve to eighteen were gathered in the District Square outside of the Justice Building, the district's escort was standing on the stage in front of two, very large, glass bowls. Inside each of the bowls were folded up pieces of paper upon which were the names of the potential tributes.

The escort for District One was a tall, somewhat rounder looking young woman with vibrant yellow hair upon her head that undoubtedly had to be a wig with how heavily styled it was. Her high heels made her even taller looking than she already was, and she walked up to the microphone.

"Welcome, welcome everyone, to the District One reaping for the twenty-fourth annual Hunger Games!" she boomed enthusiastically. "One young man and one young woman will be stepping forward today to take their places as the district's tributes! Of course, as usual, ladies first!"

The woman reached into the glass bowl that contained the girls' names and swiftly grabbed a paper off of the top, and walked back over to the microphone. Unfolding the paper, she read aloud the name that was on it. The name that was on the paper, however, was drowned out by a shout from someone in the crowd of potential tributes.

"I volunteer!" the voice carried out, loudly and confidently. Behind this voice was a tall, blonde-haired girl who appeared to be in her late teens. Her brown eyes were full of spirit and excitement, and it was very apparent that she was ready to fight in the Games.

"A volunteer! Come on up, dear!" the escort exclaimed, acting surprised at the volunteer, even though all of Panem was never surprised by a career district volunteer. The girl reached the stage, and was asked her name.

"Luanna Xena" she said, announcing herself. She had a proud smile on her face and an intimidating look to her.

Similarly, when the male tribute was announced, once again, it was drowned out by another volunteer. This volunteer was a smaller, and certainly younger, brunette boy. He appeared to be about twelve years old or so, yet had the urge to enter the Games, which was slightly surprising, seeing as most careers waited until seventeen or eighteen years old to volunteer. The boy reached the stage and was asked to introduce himself, which he did with confidence.

"Aiden Lynn" he said.

After the two shook hands, they were escorted by Peace Keepers off to the Justice Building, where they would have the opportunity to say goodbye to their families and friends. They each went into separate rooms to await what could be their final goodbyes.
